I dont care if its just 3 mb space, nor remote linkin for images forbidden etcetera, i just need it for test pages online (usually to show something to ppl i know rather than resend the same html file to -not literally- 30 buddies).

I can stand popups tho.

FAQ: http://faq.ozoneasylum.com/241

From (my) past experience...

brinkster: No direct linking, no FTP (A pretty serious limitation, IMHO).
portland: Allows server-side scripting, very little space/bandwidth, allows FTP but the servers are lousy (my connection always times out before I can upload anything).
angelfire: Last time I checked, it gave you a choice between a banner and a popup. Basically sucked, though.

I don't think there is free host with no banner, no popus.
These days, hosting is very cheap. If you want so little space and not so many features, you can find paid host for just $1 a month, and trustable.
If you don't want the hassle of ads, $1 a month is well worth the price.
Asking for free stuff with no payback at all is ask for too much, imo.

ADDED: Here's a host company that I found some months ago for a friend of mine that wanted a very cheap one. So far, he has had no problems at all with it, mostly because he doesn't demand too much from his website (the one I use is 10 bucks a month). http://www.excellencehosting.com/

Yes, there is. Both brinkster and portland are ad-free. It's just that there are other (very serious) limitations.

The limitations seem to be so painful that I keep my opinion that spending one miserable dollar a month is the best option.
Even if you are not going to make money out of your website, $12 per year is almost the same price as one ticket to see a movie in Boston (Lowes, Boston Common, at night, $10).

If only i had a credit card....

EDIT: And judging for my needs, those limitations are not big deal. I already have file hosts, but they are banner intensive, thats why i do not use them for web page demonstrations.

Thanks for the link, i am goin to take a peek.

Take a look at free.prohosting.com. Contrary to what some of the links suggest, I don't believe they continue to use banners. It used to be banner supported but then I was charged a 1 time fee of $10 and the banners went away. Having said that, it doesn't look like they are charging anything to sign up (although I've not tried).

Of course, I'm not quite sure what a "no banner free" host is.....

no-banner free.

noob.
EDIT: btw, i got a FreeWebs account. They ask you to put a "hosted by" line at the page, but it does not automatically generate it, which gives me the freedom of edit it to fit the rest of the page.

It seems bearable but you have to upload one file at a time.
No way for me.

viol - Im not using it as a file host, so it does not affect to me. And i can edit pagfes online, which give me the freedom of "editing" 50 pages at the same times, then copy and paste originals (from the hd) and save.

DL - Yes, please. We dont need your perfectionism around.

If you're not going to host file there, what are you going to host then?
I'm lost. Again.

viol : n00b is an expression short for newbie, i.e; uninitiated, rookie, internet challenged.

Alevice : You tend to contradict yourself, so at times, perfectionism is required.
The phrase "no banner free" is a non-sequiter. Makes no sense (in English) .

When you say "- Im not using it as a file host", that also makes no sense. If you`re not hosting files, you don`t need a host.

So, you see, sometimes clarification is necessary.
And please stop trying to piss off the moderators.

Oz: I have portland as my provider and I have not had a problem with it so far. I only get a connection time out after about 30 minutes.

That is strange... I have loaded several items at a time that are close to that limit and still have not had a problem. The only thing that I was loading was pictures and html files. Copying right off my mac and using Fetch. Still no problems.
