In the past I haven't had much need to use the command line interface in Windows, so I hope I'm just missing something simple here...
I go back and forth between the command line and the gui explorer the create and edit files and directories which I then ftp to our server. However, if I create a directory or file through the command line, it doesn't "exist" in explorer, and vice versa. If I log off and log back on, then all's well and I can get to the files I need through both the command line and explorer.

Is there some way to refresh the file system, so to speak, without logging off and back on?

Or should I just tell Windows to piss off and start using the Sun boxes in the lab here?

As far as I know, not in the command line but F5 works in Windows Explorer as it does in Internet Explorer.

I suppose you tried hitting F5 in Explorer already?

Can't think of anything else, sorry...

Yep, tried F5 last Thursday when I first ran into this. And it does refresh the window, but it doesn't recognize anything created from the command line since the last logon...

I tried doing what you described in W2K SP4, and it worked fine.

Do you have the latest Service Pack?

I'm not saying this is what's causing it, but SP4 has some serious problems. (One of my computers was fine with it, the other went cuckoo-caca until I uninstalled it.)
