I think something like this has been posted on here before, but i dont think you have seen the videos, very very impressive.

The japanese have claimed to invented the ability to go invisible.

I expect one of the better uses for it would be in the military to replace standard camoflague webbing. Imagine having that stuff draped over your vehicles during combat, you would definately have an advantage over your enemies.

I think people (or is it me) misunderstood the whole thing. it's not the clothing that makes people invisible, but the way the footage was taken. in other words, if u were present during the time when they were filming those videos, you would see just an ordinary surface without any transparency supereffects. So I think we can rule out practical uses of this technology at this point.

please correct me if Im wrong.

The only practical use I could think of that would be in films. How would it cover a tank ? by convincing the enemy not to use their eyes but to look through a big set of fancy googles ?? Its a camera trick not startrek style cloaking.

If it was used on surgeons gloves wouldn't the surgeon have to look through a screen and have wee cameras on his finger tips ?

OK, clever clogs, i mis-read it !! but still, amazing stuff...

Surgeons already pretty much always use some type of headgear. I can see that as a pretty valid use.

You could also use it for transportation and such. Imagine sitting in a cockpit built with this technology. It'd be like floating. The commercial/recreational applications are endless as well. Can you imagine a rollercoaster with this technology? Man, I'd pay to go on that one.

You'll notice that the camera stays perfectly still.

The effect they're using it called 'rotoscoping'...it's a method whereby two shots of the same scene are composited together to transpose elements between them.

Darn - the title of this thread was VERY misleading. I had hoped it would be about invisible clothing, not clothing that makes you invisible.

Fooey. What a let down.

There are a few words that make me invisible, " The washing up ", whenever i hear those words i disappear.

1. Strap a camcorder to your back.
2. Wire it to an LCD screen.
3. Strap the LCD to your stomach.


Okay, so that's exaggerating a bit, but really, how revolutionary can this technology be?

okay. so are u saying that the dude has a camera on the back of his head? is that what it says?
they say its a clever use of some special viewfinder? well, what kind of angle would u need to completely eliminate the body out of its sight? hmmmmmmmm
