Hello

Can anyone suggest a good movie that have the following criteria:
- a nice subject
- more talking than action scenes
- suitable for listening: watch it once but listen to it many times.

I selected two movies so far: bedazzled and Scent of a Woman.

Labyrinth, with David Bowie, though only because it's a personal favourite.

Not sure about the talking to action scene ratio though.

It kind of depends on what genre you're looking for. What do you mean by "nice" subject?

I personally love the dialog in Fight Club, Trainspotting, and Snatch. Of course, none of those have what I'd consider a nice subject.

oh, yes labyrinth is definitely good to listen to! it's one of my favorites! though, the few movies i do own, i've watched enough that i know where in the movie it is by the dialog. so i would suppose that any movie that you like would be good to listen to.

maybe if you're just looking for something to listen to...try audio books.

I'd strongly recommend Andrei Tarkovski's 'Andrei Rublev' and/or 'Stalker'.

There's little or no action in either, and the soundscape is beautiful in both.

Thanks for your recommendations so far.

Just realized that 'nice' is so vauge and relative, let me explain my goal:
I like stimulating movies where actors are talking funny things, talk in an articulate manner...
By immitating their way, I can enhance my accent and ofcourse my vocab.

Althought that might sound funny to some, but that's how birds learn to sing, by simply immitating the master bird singer then they enhance their style which was originally immitated.

I don't know any old movies like from the 80's and such...well because I was born in 1985, but hey, I'd suggest the following movies if you want to just listen, but also for watching.

Money Talks (Chris Tucker and Charley Sheen = Funny!)
The Fifth Element (Another Chris Tucker, but not as comedic, just a good movie IMO)
Liar Liar (Jim Carey, nuff said...)
Undercover Brother

For that last one, I have never actually watched it before, my step-dad has watched it like 4 times and I was there to hear it everytime, quite funny when you just hear it, I have yet to actually watch it.

I actually like anything with Jim Carey and Chris Tucker in them but that's just me.

Fight Club
Pulp Fiction
Anything done by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob)
The Cider House Rules
Being John Malcovich
Amadeus
Dead Poets Society
Pump Up the Volume
Interview with a Vampire
Leon (In America it was called "The Professional")
Any John Cusack movie, especially Grosse Point Blank and Hi Fidelity
Reservoir Dogs
Se7en
Love and Death
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Sleepy Hollow
Clue
Point Break
Ninth Gate

Once you've watched and/or listened to those, come back and I'll recommend some more

Yes, but remember not to pick up the one title "The Professional," and pick up the movie titled "Leon," because they cut out nearly 45 minutes of the original footage of the movie Leon when they made the American ("The Professional) version. Someone must of thought that they could avoid controversy by taking out a main plot device in the movie.
