I have a chance to buy one of these tablets which has only been slightly used and was wondering what a fair street market value for one of these babies is currently. I looked on ebay but only saw one...but it wasn't USB like this one is...it was serial.

Thanx,

Boudga

Ruski, he's probably being offered it by a friend of a friend or something. It didn't sound like a 'pick and choose' type thing.
Secondly, everyone paints a little different. Your painting strokes may be short... and his may not be.
All the same, however...... that's a big fuckin' tablet. heh.

Boudga, I really don't have any idea.
I have no idea how much you want the thing.... or how you are with money....
But the absolute maximum that I would even slightly debate buying it for is around $500 or possibly $550. (USD)
I wish I could say lower than that....... but I wouldn't think there'd be anyone out there willing to sell one too much lower.
If push came to shove... I'd just go get a re-furbed 9x12 for $350... or something along those lines.

Good luck with it.

Depreciation of value my friend...depreciation of value...depending on how old it is, I'd say that tablet is probably wory between 80% and 30% of its R.R.P

Well... what exactly are we considering "slightly" used?

I would recomend brand new wacoms 6x8 for $300...trust me...you dont need bigger...

and Micheal, as for brushstrokes...I paint differently...it all depends on canvas hehe...

but to paint on computer...IMO I think its stupid to have a huge tablet....

Ruski, what you're saying is that you don't need bigger, but someone else may. I've used a 6 x 8 wacon intuos, and it's too small for me. I draw from the elbow, using large strokes, and I need alot of room. It's all a matter of personal habits and preferences.

Ruski: I have to disagree, I work in the automotive design field, and in the design studios, all the stylists who do the creative renderings use the 12x18....

its quite amazing to watch them draw, they work with the tablets as if they were sketch pads... impressive stuff...

Boudga, I've got a 12 X 12 and it's way too large for my drawing style. I typically draw with my wrist as the vertex, with very slight arcs from the elbow. If you do the same, you may consider looking into a smaller tablet. I rarely ever use the entire area and have since confined the drawing area to a nice little 6 X 4 area.

I've found the only way I can get good control over the stylus with larger strokes is by setting it upright a little on my lap. And even still there is a lack of precision due to it's low contact friction. If you are scratching your head on the price, I'd say only buy something that large if you are comfortable with drawing on tablets already and specifically if you are good with large pen drawings (lower friction).

I'd exchange my 12 x 12 right now if I was still within the 30 day return period. It's a desk hog!

The surface of the pad has a little marring but not on the actual drawing surface. I offered the individual $75US for it. He's thinking about it, he hasn't used it in two years and it's been shelved that whole time.

Yes, for $75 it's well worth the risk of not liking the largeness.

mines a bit smaller.... a 6*8 and it cost me $200.

That is quite an amazing deal, even if you get it for $100.
