Hey.

I've been working for about 8 hours on this one.. I have my Windows XP and Windows 2000 Pro computers networked. Because I've reinstalled Windows XP, I need to get my backed up files from the 2k computer. Whenever I try copying the files back to XP, Win2k hangs. Any suggestions?

Have you tried going to the XP PC and sending the files to 2K from there?

get your XP cd out and run File Settings and Transfer Wizard....I've had excellent success using it for that very issue!

I've had some difficulties also trying to connect my WinXP to my wife's notebook, that has Win2k. My easy solution was to set up an FTP account, using a very light program (Cerberus), and use my IP address as the address, like ftp://usernameassword@128.103.186.209/ at the browser address bar (IE is good at this). Then, by dragging and dropping, I can transfer files to and from both computers.
This works fine because I rarely need to connect both computers. It's just a good workaround for me.
