That's one variation of the stupid no right-click script. I wouldn't suggest you to use any script that "prevents stealing", because they are completely useless and can be overridden...

Instead of that make something like a big red 'X' in the middle of the picture, so the people won't use it...

Hey, better still, don't put the picture on the internet at all!

Just put a copyright at the bottom of the page and leave it at that. After all, magazines don't have sizzor/scanner proof paper do they.

Keep in mind, if a user is viewing a picture, then they've already downloaded it, and if they're smart, there's absolutely *nothing* you can do to prevent them from taking it.

There are soooo many ways how you can override no right click scripts. Here's one way, which some of you probably didn't know (besides the well known right click button on the keyboard). Click on right mouse button and hold it, use left mouse button to click on OK button in alert dialog and then release right mouse button. Context menu will appear...

As the Doc said once with the FAQ topic: "Yes, unplug your computer, cut the electricity and take off your HD and put it in your drawer"

Well, he didn't say exactly that, but ok, take it as my word!

There is software designed for image copy protection which goes beyond the incredibly stupid JS solution (can't remember the name) and you can use watermarks (obviously) but there are some excellent Java solutions as well.
try gamelan for starters.

I guess nobody gave you an answer so here is one variation for NN6

document.oncontextmenu = disableRightClick;

function disableRightClick()
{
return false;
}

Just remember that JS can be disabled from any browser and the picture, as someone pointed out, is downloaded by the time you see it (in the cache in NS and in the Internet Temp files in MSIE)

I still don't see the point. You'll never be able to defeat a screen capture app or the Print Screen key. If you can you can always take a happy snap of your scrren with a D-CAM. Hell, If they ever figure out how to stop people from doing that I'm getting outa the computer biz cause that's just to freakin scary.

You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to try to compile a list of all the hundreds of threads that have been created that are almost identical to this one, and then use that list when someone tries to ask the question again.

That's a great idea. We should call that list QAF (questions asked frequently) or something like that.

I'll work on it and let you know if i come up with anything better.

So please, somebody comes and close this...........

Bottom line is that when something is on the internet, it's is public and you can't protect it. So, I'll close this topic...
