I recently got the latest edition of Adobe Illustrator, and I have no idea how to use it in any good context (making sigs, ps pong, etc.). Could someone give me a few pointers? |

What do you need to know? If it's operation of the software, then I would really suggest the "Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book" text. Walks you through step by step in projects that introduce the fundamentals of the program. This is the main workbook text I give my students when teaching Illustrator. If it's something specific, post away. |

No offense RN3, but Illustrator is as complex a program as Photoshop. You might as well have come in here and asked: |

Thanks for all this info, you guys. It'll be a while before I'm making new sigs, but at least now I've been pointed in the right direction. |

Yeah, I'm always looking to sink my teeth into a good Illustrator problem as well. (Hey, got a link in my sig that might interest you...) |

I've kept meaning to do two or three, but it's quite a process. I'm doing some fairly intensive Illustrator work right now, so I might at least drop a mini-tutorial (a quick tip, if you will) on how to churn out fully-tweakable line-art from a photograph by pure manual tracing. Perhaps that'll get me in the groove for the Appearance palette tutorial I've been meaning to essay. (And from there, it's a short step to advanced shading, something I can teach but not really do very well.) |
