Anyone have/know a good fontpack uploaded somewhere?
I need good/beautiful/atractive/cool fonts not some corel
draw 10000 fonts that look all the same. I'm willing to download
up to 100-200mb.

I'm not looking forward to a answer like stfu search the web or something.
Also i dont want a link to popup/bennered/whatever slow website where
i can donwload all the fonts separately.
I have searched for good fonts but found none.
Only good fonts i have are the ones i got from one not well known ftp
server from some random guy's small fontpack.

Excuse my bad mood, just tried to make myself clear.

well, #1 is search the web...but apparently you're unwilling to do that. That makes me want to help you a lot. But I will give you a bit of a lesson in the world of typography.

First and foremost, the best fonts are not free. Not. Free. Why is that, twItch? Oh, that's easy; fonts take hours of mindnumbingly slow, tedious work. You lay out 26 letters, then you lay out 26 other letters, then you lay out a bunch of extended characters, and it's a thing of beauty. You gonna give that away for free? No, not bloody likely. When you complete a work of art, do you hand it out to whomever wants to use it for whatever purpose? Naturally, no. The same is true with fonts. Some fonts sell for hundreds of dollars for usage--and they're work every single penny.

thank you for dafont.com
but i'm still going to continue waiting for someone
who is willing to give just a simple link to a simple
good fontpack

ofourse i have found fonts on web twitch ... it's just that
1) sites are slow and painful to use
2) most of the fonts aren't free (i knew that before btw
and i have made some experimental fonts myself)
3) most of the fonts aren't good enough

that's why i need a simple **ck*** fontpack

...or a person willing to dedicate his time to downloading
all fonts from dafont.com, making a fontpack and sending it to me

okay, I'll say this as slowly as I can, but you may not notice because it's typed. Imagine me saying this slowly. On the whole, good fonts are not free.

Shell out a couple bucks if you want the good ones. Support these guys. Seriously. And get off your horse. Quickly. The days of "Everything Is Free Because The Web Is New And Interesting" are over, it's time to pony up some cash to get what you want.

Or make your own damn fonts, since you seem to be the only one to know what is and what is not a good font.

Arthurio: Contrary to what twitch^ says there are an awful lot of good free fonts out there but what one person thinks is cool is purely subjective.

I have searched for good fonts but found none.

As there are a lot of good fonts out there (and easy too find too) my reaction would be;

1. You aren't trying hard enough.

2. Your idea of good seems to differ from everyone elses and so finding a fontpack of 'good' fonts probably won't work for you.

I seriously hope you are joking - I have a large selection of fonts and they have taken an awful lot of time hunting out the right font, grabbing fonts that might be useful, researching things, etc. but m 'cool' fonts aren't what other people might consider cool. You really need to do your own footwork.

Oh and:

quote:
at the moment im trying to use an program to download www.1001fonts.dom the whole site

These sites do try and make as wide a selection of fonts available to people for free and it strikes me as serious abuse to just lift the whole site (and then I presume throw away 90% of the fonts as they aren't cool).

I'm going to go now before I end up swearing or something.

Emps, I'm not saying all free fonts suck. I'm saying that, on the whole, good fonts are not free. There are good free fonts. They are the rarities. Generally you get a whole mess of display fonts that are crazy, whacked-out mech-fonts that you couldn't use in a design even if you wanted to because of the absolute lack of readabilitiy. Beyond those display fonts, you'll find a smattering of blackletter/gothic fonts that have interesting suave (though lacking in the intricacies of the hand-drawn blackletter, naturally) and a few nice sans-serif ones that strike a fancy.

However, if given the choice between using Arial, blowing out the kerning, letting, and x-heights, or buying, say, a Rotis font pack, I will buy the Rotis font pack, because the letter is just so much more keen, more fluid. For the font extremist, like myself, those sorts of things are important.

Mostly, however, I am trying to dissuade people like Arthurio from coming to sites like these and trying to find easy answers, because there aren't any that he's going to like. The easiest answer is find the font you want, buy it, and enjoy it. The answer he wants is "here's a whole bunch of fonts I stole."

Copyrights on fonts are crucially difficult to maintain, because they are lightweight files that can easily change hands. That's sad, given how much effort is generally put into their creation. So I'll admit I gave only half of the story.

But can you blame me?
