vulcanpimp: Welcome. It would depend on whether you are allowed to take the pictures from the site. There are a lot of sites that make stock photos available for free but otherwise you shouldn't and you could end up upsetting a number of people.

I think your best bet would be:

1. Contact the person whos picture it is and ask them for permission to sue it.

2. Get a camera and take some photos.

vulcanpimp: Welcome. By taking the material from another site without prior agreement of the author, you would commit an infrigement of its copyright. Altering a material and claiming your ownership would be a plagiarism. As Emperor said, unless the site provides the information about copyrights and authorizations, you must always contact the author to ask if and how you can use his/her work.

You'll find some informations about copyright protection, but they do not refer to the laws of any country in particular.

That's a pretty piss-poor way to go about this, and an attitude that will get you in trouble.

Quick answer - No, you can't do that.

Longer answer - even if you could do that, you shouldn't. Why? It's simply not your work. How can you calim it is yours when you've simply taken it from someone else? What you need to do is get permission to use any images you want to use. You also need to properly credit the owners/creators of the images you use.

Alternatively, you could simpyl take your own photos. If you are maing a website for skaters, it seems logical that you hang around with which case it should be pretty easy to get some photos.

Beleive it or not, doing this type of work takes a bit of actual effort and resourcefulness on your part...

that is greatly frowned uppon. If you took any of my graphics, I would get after you to delete them, with the asylum backing me up. It has happened before, and it is not pretty.

That said, Props for asking and not just doing. If you want to use photos and clip art and grapics others make, there are free places to get them, with out stealing others graphics, aslong as you do not sell them. I dont have any links on hand to stock photo and graphics sites, but you can probably find some in the FAQ, or by searching google for stock stuffes.

A good free stock photo site -- stock.xchng. You can take anything from there and use it any way you wish. However, nobody will ever give you the right to say that you actually created the image you use. My suggestion is to use the photos, then email the photographer and thank him for providing the images, and if you want to really do it right, give him a credit on the page.
