Ok, I just thought I would show you guys a 'finished' piece click here. 100% Illustrator. Took a month and half to finish. Quite proud of it really.

hey, that turned out nice wolfen....though, the wings seem a bit flat? like...everything else has shading... except the wings. i dunno if i'm explaining it right... but no matter if it's a finished piece

Well, on the original picture that I had, there was no real shading to the wings... that is why I 'layered' the colors in the wings to give them a bit more depth.

There's no such thing as a finished piece! Now get back in there and shade those wings!

Other than that, though, I like it.

The Good:

Very solid.
Consistant light source.
Little things like the chain.
Cell shading is cool.

The Bad:

Two shading styles. Cell shading and smooth (gradient) shading. I personally don't think that they mix well.
His arm must hurt.
His wings are growing out of his ass.

The Ugly:

White background

I might play with the wings when I have time. (My current personal situation is very bad right now.)

I should mention that here is the original picture I had to work with. I got full artist permission.

cfb: I see what you mean about the sword and a few other non cel shaded details. Background I could not do anything about. The rest should be covered by looking at the picture, that is all I could go off of. It was a piece that I liked that I just wanted to colorize.

The only thing that nags me is the fire - it should be rising straight up, not at the same angle as the sword. I realise that it's something that's wrong with the initial sketch, but I'm sure you could fix it easily if it was colored in Illustrator
