Opera house? A little fish called Nemo?

I think this would be a little too cliche for you?

eyezaer: They even have so much camels, that they sell some to Saudi Arabia. Really. As far as I know camels were imported in Australia around 1 century ago. The climatic conditions of desert in the middle of Australia were ideal for them and the population grow till now. That's an example of animal colonisation via humans. The same thing happened with rabbits and rats.

For a footer/header I'd rather see a landscape with either some bushes and the Ayers Rock, or the ocean and Sydney's Opera House. It may be cliché too but both of them are world famous, and at worst I guess Australia is named/refered to somewhere in the page itself. The Ayers Rock stands more for Australia in general, but I think it's a little less famous than Sydney's Opera House.

As a side note to the side note, camels are the number one killer on the roads in Saudi. there are no lights on a lot of the roads and motorists just run into them as they cross. the legs give and the body lands on the car, crushing the driver and passenger. Interesting fact eh?.......ok I'm outa here

I'd probably go for something abstract and Aboriginally (my brother just got back from Oz and brought me a rather nicely painted stone just simple colours, dots and lines but every effective).

IMHO - Just a simple line sketch of the Sidny Opera House would do... With the company's name in trendy tiny grey text at the bottom.

Really depends on the target, if it was international perhap the kangaroo be the way to go. Yes it's over used, but it's the first thing that comes to mind if you said Australia to me. The shape of Australia easly identifiable and of course there's always the Southern Cross. I do agree on the Sidney Opera house, far too Sidney specfic and way to overused. I realy like the aboriginal idea, a didgeridoo comes to mind. One could even use it's sound as part of the identity, I would great if the logo is used interactively. Much like the Intel tones, sound is very effective for brand identity

Oh, can't forget the good old boomerang.

Here is a good research link: http://www.pictureaustralia.org/

i just thought i'd mention that if you're going to do some sort of Aboriginal design be sure to check Austrailian/Aboriginal copyright info. i believe that it's a bit of a sticky area (or was last i'd heard) as far as copyright and such. from what i remember, they dictate where/when/how and by who, their designs (or likeness of) are used (as does the Maori in New Zealand if i remember correctly). the laws covering indigenous stuff is a bit more strict and covers music/dance/oral stories ect.
i'm sure you could google and get much more accurate information than i've given, but just thought i'd give a heads up.

I didn't see anyone mention it, so I thought I would. The image of the Opera House will undoubtedly by copyrighted. It may also be trademarked in its use as an icon of the Opera House organization and its affairs.

Using it as a logo to represent something else could get a person in some serious trouble.

Stick with 'roos and boomerangs.
