Topic awaiting preservation: Ageing Portraits with Photoshop 7 (Page 1 of 1)

Am searching for a tutorial on forensic aging. I know that Computerarts and the "artyears" website had very good tutorials on this but both are either achived or removed from circulation. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

When i did one, i used the clone and heal brush to get the texture of old skin on the younger face, also i just went in a painted it up.

The clone tools will really help, becuase you can copy wrinkles and blemishes onto your photo...

Look at an old picture. Notice how they're grainy...

Try creating a new layer, making a small circle with the elipse tool, and filling it with a darkish brown (for sepia, dark grey for b/w). Lower transparency

Make the picture over/under exposed with brightness/contrast... Usually if they were over exposed there was very little contrast... If they were under exposed, still very little contrast... but dark.

uhhh.... oh.

forensics is a broad term.... you see. I thought you wanted to make a person older, like they do in forensics to see what a person may look like later in life...

The problem is that the best tutorial (the Computer Arts one) has disappeared. After you posted the FAQ link I checked some of those (ageing) links and I couldn't get the CA tutorial.

I have the picture files that went with that tut... i am sure Bob also has them....

Honestly, i didnt really rely on that tut when i aged a face... becuase the tut just didnt look real enough.

I dunno where to find another one... Best bet is to learn about Blend modes, so you can mix textures together, and then get a firm grip on the clone tool.
