Topic awaiting preservation: Pasting into a selection, having object fill selection (Page 1 of 1)

Hello,

If i remember correctly, there's a way to paste into a selection in which the copied object will conform to the new dimensions. Is this right???

Example: I had some graphics that were supposed to be square. They're a few pixels off. Rather than screw around with scaling them manually, is there a way to copy the incorrect graphic, create a new square image, select all, then paste so that the old image conforms to the new square size?

I get what you mean, that would be handy, but I don't know of it exists.

if you are doing the same thing over and over again you can make an action and batch it... but it wont auto size to fit into a selection.

Not that I am aware of, but I would think it would be more work to do that than it would be to simply re-scale or crop the image anyway.....

A simple image size change would be quicker and easier than copying, opening a new image, and pasting.

Well I'd imagine if it was possible it would work like CTRL+SHIFT+C for merged copy, like something, something + V for scaled pasted with a tick box somewhere to set aspect ratio or not.

But yea, just set an action to free transform to the required size, run it before or after pasting.

Well, Paste-Into will create a quick mask on a new layer with your pasted image on it. All you need to do then is just unlink the mask and resize the layer data...the mask then crops the visible area...


Aside from that, you might be fecked.
