I tried un-installing and re-installing (PS7.01) and the problem still exists.
Anyone out there that can help please?

I've seen that before, but I put it down to it being a bad cracked version. When PS loads is the splash screen partially blacked out ?

Hugh
Yes, the splash screen is also blacked out.

I have an original PS3 version, and I bought a genuine upgrade to PS6
through an authorised dealer some time ago.

When my hard drive expired I reinstalled PS and it came
up with this black screen problem.

A friend who also has PS lent me his 7.01 version to check,
but the black screen problem was still the same.

I then tried loading his version onto my laptop, and it worked
perfectly.

I have been using PS for many years without difficulty.

?????
Any further help greatly appreciated.

Sam

it sounds like a software problem... though.... If i am running software that really maxes out my video card I can have some problems...

So you might try updating the drivers, and mmmm... shutting down everything else.

I'd bet on updating (or even downgrading) the videocard drivers, it was the culprit on 99% of the cases I've heard of.

Thanks everyone.
I have now updated the Nvidia Video Card drivers
and that has cured the problem.

I've had two NVidia Riva TNT 2 video cards die on me within the last month....both began to display grey lines of varying widths across the monitor. I tested them in other machines and encountered the same problem. I disposed of them both! Must be a flaw in that chipset...

Sam, I'm glad that you were able to cure your problem.

Boudga, aren't they several years old?
