Hey I'm "new" around here found the site from a friend.... wondering what people think of this

This is the begging of a web site I want to make for my girlfriend and myself... Wondering if anyone can point me at some tutorials and ideas on how to improve this or is this a decent start?

I like your second set of images better than the first. The font is cool.

Maybe a good idea would be to decide what sort of theme/style you want your website to be (ie, clean or grunge or sci-fi, etc.) and then search out a tutorial to help you with that?

Whether that is a decent start is entirely up to you. As it`s a personal site, appearance, form and functionality are for you to decide.
Planning is #1. You`ll save yourself lots of grief if you have a detailed layout and format before you begin building. Know what you wish the site to convey, and to whom, and it may help you pick a direction.
Also, you might stop bby the Site Reviews forum here and see what people are up to, and gain some perspective on what`s up.
As for tutorials, you`ll have to be more specific on what you need, and we can direct you further.

I like funky kindof thinhgs, I like the font in the second so I like the second more... I like stuff that basically looks cool, sci fi, metallic and many other things, I was looking into making my own back ground kindof metalic looking(copper) with some viens flowing through it. like some armor from a game I play.

yah i'm done with that effect, time to find something new =) starting to get the hang of layers though.

Welcome to the Asylum.

"Cool" is kind of vague but I get the feeling you mean futuristic. This means you should learn how to do plastic, metal, and glass in photoshop. Take a look at the tutorials Doc and the Gurus Network provide. The links can be found by clicking the buttons at the bottom of the page.

1, look up the Batch deal, and actions. Basically you record an action of what you want to accomplish and then you use batch to open all the pics in one folder, edit them, and save them to another folder...

2, yah, zoom way in and desaturate, or paint over, or make a selection of the red bit and adjust the levels or colors.

Hello gorf.
Try Google for the answers you seek.
Ok I did it for you and came up with this one, although there are many techniques out there. Red Eye
As for the resizing, do you know how to use Actions in PS? That is a great way to make the job easier. Batch resize can be a bit fiddly if you are using lots of different sizes.
Does that help a little?

Actions definatly saved alot of time =) thanks. Another thing I was lookingat the guru net tutorials and I have a good idea in my mind what I want to do, something like a frozen flame... so its like an ice blue fire .... know what I mean? I have found some tutorials for fire effects but not for ice... though any decent ones for fire/ice would be gladly accepted.

The best way to get rid of red eyes is not by painting. There is an easier and better way.
Select the red area (elliptical marquee is fine), both eyes or one at a time, use Feather on the selection accordingly, select the green channel only, copy, select the red channel only, and paste. That's it. Fast, no painting, no manual work and better results.

gorf I'd suggest following the fire tutorials anyway and change the colour or layer settings till you get the colour you like for ice. At least I'm 80% sure you can do it that way, but there will be loads. try googling it

Okay That was the effect I was going for, now Iw as thinking about a lighter blue outline on the flame to make it more frozen looking, any comments?

Here is An Attempt At Adding A More Frozen Effect To The Image
