1. It is all good code except for the way you've got that indented text on your main page which you get with an empty column:
quote:<td width="50"> </td>
I'd use CSS margins to do that (which means you can get rid of that second table).
2. Its a bit lacking in something but I can't pin it down.
3. Urm that is about it really it looks fine - although I might go for overflow: auto to keep all the page above the fold in 800x600 and you don't quite get the footer on at the moment.
Overall the site looks good (but there isn't anything that jumps out and grabs me) and your code is good. I'd be interested to see the other pages when you get them done - keep up the high standard there and you should be fine.

The orange/blue at the very top is really hard on my eyes for some reason.... I think its maybe cuz the orange is too reddy?
So far the layout is nice and simple tho... nothing wrong with it
-C*****n McLeay www.extremespace.comwww.muchosucko.com
- i would indent both sides of that set of links about the menu. ("The [n]Projects[/b] section..."
- i would also suggest a bit more spacing between each paragraph.
- in fact, i think that bit could be switched around to improve the focus area, and break the repetition:
from:
The Projects section...
The Services section...
The Portfolio section...
etc...
to: Projects - my current projects.... Services - information regarding... Portfolio - the place to go...
etc...
of course, this is just my opinion. of course, that's the only opinion i'm qualified to give.
title orange - clean. bright. cool.
menu option mouseover orange - dirty. dull. not so cool.
white glow around title - hmm... not too sure.
rounded corners - nice idea, poor execution. is it just me, or do they look *gasp* jaggy?
links - why don't they go orange on hover instead of black? just an idea for continuity.

Just to add in my 2 cents. The links at the top (menu) are really close together. Need to space them out a bit more.
It needs some more color. From the first time that you see it, there is all this blue, an orange header and some static white text. White text is good on that blue background but I think there needs to be a better use of color. It could use some pics or something as well. Check out Ducati's sites, he makes some great use of pictures.
I could even handle a little bit of a margin on the top. Not a lot, just something so it doesn't butt right up to the top. If that is all you are going to have on your front page, then I think that it is a little top heavy.
The links inside the page aren't real noticable. I didn't even know they were links until I happened to move my mouse around
It's not bad and I think that with a little bit more careful planning and layout you could have a nice site. Experiment with some different colors to add in there. If you need some help here is what I would do. Take the HEX value of the blue background and go to this site. Check out "The Colour Wizard".

1. I got rid of the table, and used css instead. Let me know if thats what you meant please.
2. I'm just going to experiment with the rest of the suggestions in the thread, and get back to this one.
3. I dont' really understand your third point. Do you mean overflow: auto for the body tag? What do you mean with the footer? Please rephrase.
- yak:
I'm going to keep the same colours for a while i think, until the rest of the thread's suggestions have been implemented.
- bunchapixels:
1. I reworded the descriptions of the different sections of the site - thanks for the suggestion. I also indented both sides of this part of the page, and justified the text as well.
2. The link hover effect is now an orange, instead of black.
3. The navbar rollovers, come to think of it, do need work. At the moment im stuck for ideas for the rollover effects. So if ANYONE has suggestions for them, they would be much appreciated.
4. The white glow effect - you do mean the outer glow, and not the stroke, right?
5. I'm working on the rounded corners now, they are a bit jaggy.
- Ducati:
What font? The title font? Or the navbar images font? If you are referring to the navbar fonts, im changing the letter spacing once i finish this post.
- CPrompt:
1. Do you mean the spacing between each link, or the spacing between each letter?
2. I added an underline to the links, to make them more noticeable. I dont really like underlines on links, but i am stuck as to what else i could do in order to make the links stand out.
3. Theres more of a margin at the top and bottom now - 10px for each.
4. I'm fiddling with the colour wizard now - i'll upload any changes resulting from this soon.
Thankyou all for your valuable suggestions, I am experimenting with them as I post this topic. The results should be viewable soon.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Cheers,
-James-

mjv: Personally I think it is looking much better (although I would have liked to have seen it with the faint background). You still need to fix those corners!!
About my overflow: auto comment have a DIV holding you content set to a certain height and put that style on it - if the page gets bigger rather than pushing the bottom down below the fold (and you footer is off the screen at 800x600) it gives you scroll bars. Its not crossbrowser but does degrade well in Op and NS4.x (although test it).

Answer to your questions:
1. I was talking about the space between the links themseleves. The space between the letters is fine.
2. It looks like you opted to make the liks the orange color instead of a line, that's cool
3. Margin is good, Now it doesn't look so top heavy.
4. Fiddle with the Color wizard.
I think that page is coming along now. Please fix those corners though, they really stand out bad now.
hey, looks good - one issue i have is the 'current news' section - it seems totally off balance. i don't know what the titles are centred too, but they aren't centred to the whole box... the section really looks kinda wonky.
the "Please use the navigation links above to browse this site." sentence after contact doesn't seem to belong there either - it should be somewhere at the very end or beginning of that section imo - i'll let you figure out if you want to move it, and where.
ohpe you're having fun!
bunchapixels: I haven't finalised the layout of the news section - i was unsure of the best layout. What can you suggest? I need to work on the rounded edges, but what would you say is the best way to smoot them out more? btw I am having fun! I love fiddling with websites!
Does anyone have any suggestions for the navbar rollovers? ie colour and/or effects?
