The only version of TrueSpace I have ever played with is 3. I found it easy enough to figure out with a little diddling. Hold a button and see what pops-up. Easy enough. But that's TS 3.

Is it my imagination or is the TS line geared more towards um... casual users? I found it to be rather user-friendly, almost to a fault. Kind of like what MS keeps doing to it's OS (dumbing down). Know what I mean?

TrueSpace 1 is still sitting in my archives just waiting to be installed and played with. Thanks to whomever posted that.

If you call casual about $300 bucks. Then again, with Maya running about $20k, I guess it would be.

edit btw, Silence, I don't think Maya is that pricy. The last time I priced it, Maya Ultimate was around 15k, and Maya Complete was 5-7k (depending on if it was on promo or not). Of course, they could have upped the price while I wasn't looking.

Gosh, this entire shift thing bugging ya that much? Thank you silence for the links, i found a place called 3D Cafe that does alot of tutorials on many programs.

And twitch, you dont have to drop lines about what you want to say. If you have something to say, then say it. Im not easily offended so its ok if you want to tell me anything.

Ive heard of Maya before. Yeeeeowch! I cant even figure out truespace. HeHe i also got a copy of LightWave 6.o if thats any good. i know that http://www.digitalblasphemy.com uses alot of lightwave but that thing is harder than truespace LoL.

And thank you DAS for just saying it.

It's not really 'bugging' me, per se, it just stops me from having any desire to help. Comes across to me like someone in real life asking me something in pig latin. If someone is going to actually go to extra effort to be hard to understand, why should I bother answering?

Check that out. TS 5 trial. I figured they would have moved to CD only by now. I think I'll d/l and play with it later.

See ya in a few days.

edit. I had to enter a phone # to download. How anal is that? And, at the end of installation, there was this:
[] Run TS5 everytime Windows is started
LOL Yeah, right.

Another edit.
Help > turn things on like Tool Tips and Help Bar

Various modes of rendering

Hold mouse down and the render modes pop-up.

The tool bar behavior is a bit odd. 'Course, takes getting used to. I thought I had lost a tool bar until I noticed a dinky little graphic in the corner. The Help file is only of moderate usefullness. Must be saving the pictures for the real manual.

Something else I noticed, you have to turn Rendering on. The button is somewhere in the upper-right tool bar. Not sure, but I think that might have something to do with casting shadows, or bump maps, or... something. You can still render, but you can't *render*. Something like that. (I've been out of the 3D biz for a *long* time. Programs have changed quite a bit.)

There are some other things about TS5 that are throwing me off. I'll play with it some more these next few days. Maybe even actually post something. See if I can re-create pink pills.

Ribbed for her pleasure.
