Yep, I have to go with DL on this one. "Creating Realistic Eyes" is never going to wash as a tutorial, because it won't take any variances into account. Part of making digital "art" is to give your interpretation of what you see. |

The PhotoShop manual comes with PS when you buy the software Nell....and "the fucking manual" is just an excerpt from the ever popular advice: |

Nell, they are just telling you to 'get your hands dirty'. That means, make some eyes. Use some of the tuts to get the roundness, then play. Post what you came up with here. From there, we'll help you further. Many techniques are like that. So fire up PS, and get busy. |

One important point - you need to realize that the highlights will actually be reflecting off of the cornea, and so they will not stop at the edge of the iris, they will continue over the white as well, although they may distort a little because of the bulge in the cornea around the iris. |

Nice work on the iris, Minkies. On the *ball* part, it seems as if it`s oval shaped instead of round. Maybe try to fade the shadow into more of a sphere. At the outside edge of the cornea the dark should fade in more , not be so defined. And the muscles of the pupil should stretch into the iris along the striations you have defined so well. |

How do you make that iris line texture? Filter or a combination? |
