Well? that was certainly fun. I never want to animate another domino in my life? or add sound to another domino falling over. I got a tab bit sloppy on the sound? but I like what I did so far?

And suggestions?

Yeah, yee with sharp eyes will see at least one domino in there with a screwed up skin on it. Heh.

Animation in 3d Max, for a final project? it was worth about 40% of my overall grade. I added the sounds in premiere, I am sorry to say, which sucked. A whole lot.

Heres for a 1.5ish MB winmedia piece of junk file?

And heres a 5ish mb divX? just a little bigger clearer picture... the WMV file looks decent though.

Also, any tips on compressing div x files down smaller?

edit: this is an animation... so... maybe it goes in that forum over there? but it was created in MAX... so... foo.

And that's impressive, izz. The only thing that nags me is the domino after the penguin - it hangs... Was that supposed to be a Matrix type dealy?

wicked good job man, the DivX hung altogether at the squeezie toy for me, but the wmv was fine. Nice job for the first ever 3D stuff I've seen from you.

Nice job, looking good, did you get to use some form of hard body dynamics or did they have to be hand animated.

Its all by hand. grrrr... didnt know about that when i started it, and still have not learned how to use it.

i especially like the textures you used...where did you get them from?

heh, the foot is a modified max texture, i forget what one, but i just turned it purple. The dominos are the only things there that are not using max textures. I got a bit of marble from google images, and made the dots in PS... not all to carefully.

actually, the first 5 dominos' dots were done with boolien, so they are actual indents, and eh, if i say so myself, look awesome. But that got old really fast. And i think there is only 10 different dominos in the entire scene. and notice, the dominos in the background? no skins on them. not important. and for some reason the 3rd domino after the last one that falls down has dots on both sides. weird.

everything else is max baybe.

Synax: What was the purpose of calling JK a wanker simply becuase he coulsn't find the links? I mean, I couldn't find them and so scrolled down to see if anyone had had similar problems and came across your nicely worded admonishment to 'click the slimies wanker'. Well thankyou, but, why a wanker? What did he do wrong by asking where the links were?

Anyhoo - fantastic stuff izzay.

It seems like it must just me be, but I had some problems with the files - the WMV had no video for me.

The AVI had video and sound, but the sound sstarted before the video, so nothing was in sync

Is there something I should do on my end to correct these problems? (yes, I do have the divx codec)

DL, the div-x is just weird. WMV should work fine, I used the version 9 codec... you may need to upgrade, I don't know what else would cause the problem.

Yah Yah, each one nocked over... I was a bit buggered at first until the teacher showed us the dropdown for local. I got alittle fancy on the last one and had it bounce a couple of times. Fun.

Adding sound was not so fun though, because the dominos are falling at about 1/4 the rate a real domino falls... so i had to match sound with each freakin domino, for the initial clink.

Max... I think it was 5.1, had the red splash screen.

Hard body stuff sounds awesome, I was playing around with cam tracking yesterday... it was... interesting.

Yea, I'm really forward to the Lightwave 8 upgrade so I can give hard body dymanics a try. I have been wanting to do a dice rolling. Bouncing and rebonding off a wall and key framing it by hand really sucks. One could hack Lightwave's Motion Designer which is used for soft body dynamics. But I have yet to figure how it works normally.
