Topic awaiting preservation: smooth plastic text junk? (Page 1 of 1)

I am trying to make text with smooth round corners and edges, and I am having no luck... Just want some nice clean plastic junk with not flat surfaces or sharp edges.

I assume that you applied the bevel already. Then you can add Mesh smooth modifier.

For plastic, you can use Phong shader and add about uuhmmm spectacular level at about 220 and do glossines at maybe 70 or so.

Play around with it and let us know how you come out

You need to chop up the mesh on the text (assuming you used the text feature, and extrude). All polygons need to be 4 sided before you use meshsmooth, or else it will look terrible.

Make your text (with hard edges) -> convert to editable poly -> use the cut option to add edges so that all polygons are quads -> select all sharp edges on every letter -> chamfer twice (first time by .03, then by .01) -> meshsmooth.
