I opened this one because the pspong? ][ thread was getting longish as it is, without the logo proposals mixed in. |

OK, I just had a chat with taxon, and he was also thinking about the grid background. He mentioned an idea of maybe building the name in a wireframe, and letting it appear more and more developed as the text spelled out? (I'm not thinking animation here, but graphics, grid on one end, finished text on the other.) Maybe with some architecural style grid lines left in, to show the nature of the "work in progress"? |

doc, I love the grid idea. and it would not distract from the images at all. (like a solid colored background would). |

how about a version of the above, but including a table tennis (pong) table with a couple of table tennis bats (paddles) bashing the PS eye across the net? just popped into me head.. its the coffee doing it mind you.. heh ~Vp~ |

OK while we are throwing ideas in I'll mention the one I threw in which may have been lost somewhere in the other posts: the words PSPong with the vertical bars of the first P and the g being the bats and the o being the ball. It might be a little twee but if PS elements were thrown in too (grid, eye, etc.) it could draw the two parts together. I suspect there will be a need for a larger more detailed logo and a simpler one for link to us buttons so that also might be something to bear in mind. |

I will agree with Darkshadow. Both Hands-On and Guru is great sites, but kind of 'oldfashioned' if you understand..? A new look, clean lovely design, would probably attract more visitors too. But I know - it's always difficult to do something different and creative, but it's a lot of creative peoples around here isn't it? |

DS: If you've got ideas for the type of layout you were thinking of then knock something up and start a new thread in this forum for ideas along this line ('PSPong.com layout proposals' to follow the theme). |

Emp: you right about "fancy your interface becomes the more people you confuse" yea but I mean bring it up to date sort off, but in a way that it is not confusing for the beginners to the site. But I was thinking to make it simple yet has a up to date feel to it then handson, gurusnetwork , etc as they are a bit "Boxy" but they do there job as getting beginners involved. |

DS: You are never going to get thrown out of here for stating your opinion and esp. not when you are prepared to back it up with suggestions for design improvements!! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. |

i have yet to get a copy of photoshop at home, so i cant really make a demo of what i mean, but i think it would be cool to have a pong paddle hitting a ball that leavces a trail, and you can see (in the trail) the ball transforming into a glowing dove. |

Would it be blasphemous if the original version of the PSPong logo wasn't made in photoshop? I'll submit anyway. =) |

Slime: I think that is great and I'd enjoy the irony (what did you use?). Its along the lines I was hinting at but done better than I could have done (and I know I'd have been tempted to for an unpleasant flourescent green!!). |

Mine looks sorta pixelated, made it in Microsoft Image Composer, I'm sure it could be easily duplicated in Photoshop without the pixelation. |

Shouldn't the logo be in vector and PSM? So it works fine on print..? I usually make logos in vector, but I'm not the best "logomaker" :-) I'll try make a proposal later.... but I hav ea few things to do today. |

On PSpong.com I think it would be cool if there was a space for pspong matches that made logos for the site, then the best of all of those where selected and a random logo thing happened like on GurusNetwork. Just thinking that would be a good way to get some nice logos. |

maninacan and Puglzly: Both good ideas - the random thing seems to gaining favour but I'm not sure a Flash logo would go down well with everyone, however, I'd love to see it and if it seems like a good idea to have things customisable then I'd really like to see that as an option (pos. with the whole interface done in flourescent green on black). |

Here's the general idea of what I mean. We nail a logo that's symbolic of the game, the speed, the modern quality, and the fun of it. |

DG: I really like that logo - its got movement, a ball shape and some P shaped things. I think that something would really work well we need to think about how the logo will fit in with the layout and something that can be kept nice and small would keep the top area of the page good and short leaving more room for the actual meat of the site. Some to think about anyway. |
