Not sure if this can be done with UBB (Seen it done with vB), but I was wondering if you could add the name of the last poster in the Last Post column... So like it says the date and time of the last post, and the name of the last poster.
Just would kinda help me (and others I assume) not click on a post that you just posted on

yeah, that's a nice feature, and yes it can be done with UBB....Pugzly had it going over at the Gurus Network before things went haywire.

Doc's been slacking on the forum hacks though

I'm mostly just dreading the move from 5.45c up to 5.47! Seems like I'd have to replace all of my cgi files, and that's where all my hacks live! Yuck, that one's going to HURT! I'll probably limp along with this one till the end of my upgrade term, and then test it on my local machine, and then c*****n things up for a few days while I move to the new code.

IMHO, mwForum is the best forum software, period.

Mikey, it's called mwForum (not myF...) and you can find it here: http://www.mawic.de/mwforum/ The list of mwForum's features that I like very much follows:

• mwForum is written in PERL and supports mod_perl for optimal performance
• mwForum uses MySQL database backend
• Has support for threaded discussions (besides flat style, which is used in almost every other forum software), so that you can really see who replied to what message
• Has support for post read tracking (mwForum really tracks what posts you've read from specified topic, while every other forum software only tells you if there are new posts in the topic)
• It can be easily modified to suit your needs
• It is GPLed (GNU Public License 2)
• etc.

Only drawback is that not all web providers have MySQL and mod_perl installed and in that case you're stuck with forums like IkonBoard, which are full of security holes and are really slow...

i think it would be great if each page had an anchor at the bottom of the page so that on threads with 30+ posts you could quickly scroll to the bottom of the page... I think that could prolly be added to an .shtml file footer

Wow, I was just about to create concerning having the last person posted. I have gone to several forums where they have that, including a few UBB's I don't suppose it would be extremely hard. Perhaps if you don't have the time Doc, you could give a trusted member of the Asylum a special duty of updating the Asylum occationally. Perhaps someone like Pugzly, who does it routinely on his forum.


Just a thought.
