company christmas parties suck.

Mine was last night.

I didn't go.

Because they suck.

It's really sad watching how much more enthusiastically people kiss ass when they're drunk.

It's also really sad seeing how funny drunk rich executives *think* they are.

I've been at this place for 7 years...went to one christmas party.

A guy who works for me got banned from company functions for telling a group of VP's to kiss his ass and inviting them outside one at a time to kick their asses.
That was the high point of the party =)

I hate them with a passion.

Well I went as an honest boy scout to work at the "Arts & Crafts" section at the cub scouts christmas party.

It's funny to see that the youngest ones are usually more easier to teach than the older ones. I tought them how to make a skiing peanut man! One kid just kept wanting to show me how his crashed into a tree. Hmm, kids suck. As soon as that party was over I ran straight home (a bout 4 blocks away). Weew. My school usually has good parties though .

I've been to the last two christmas parties for this one company.

I'm not even an employee, but I've contracted to them for so long...

Anyway, I find them to be a bit of good fun.
Plus the food is always great.

It's a great bunch of people, but it is a smaller company, only about 60-70 people.

They do if you work at a motel, the Genetii here in town has the Christmas party for Giant Foods (a grocery store) and they always trash the place

Bah' Humbug. Parties are crap! If I had my own little franchise, as an entrepreneur wouldn't even think of having a party for christmas!

Ack, just saying that family parties (at least mine) are much better IMO. I love my family christmas.

I think you're missing the point, Insider.
Read DL's original post to see what all goes on at these "exciting" little events.
They bare no resemblence to a family get-together.
So saying that family gatherings are better.... is sort of like comparing two completely different things... and really has no purpose (for lack of a better word) to this discussion. Even if your family sucks.... at least it's entertaining to watch everyone argue.

As this thread spins off course.... I'll note this being another consecutive christmas (since '98) by myself. heh. Can't wait till I hit the 5 year anniversary of it.... then I'll actually have something to celebrate.

nope.

The only company Christmas party I've ever been to was my father's, when I was young, and all I remember is that they had a crapload of cookies. So that was a pretty good day for me.

I very much doubt I will ever attend a company Christmas party...

I was at the company christmas party last year, when I still worked. It was actually pretty fun (mostly just good food, and dancing), and the drinks were the right price (free).

This year I've just been going to regular Christmas parties, and they're.. much more fun

Yup. I have a family. WHo I will spend christmas with.

I also have a company. You know, I work for them...

They throw a christmas party every year...much like the majority of large companies in America.

Most of those parties suck for those of us who prefer not spend our evening kissing executive ass or trying to screw all the people you wouldn't normally talk to all night...


Which has....nothing to do - that I can see - with my family

Mine was Friday. Despite agreeing with a lot of the above comments, I go every year. I wouldn't miss my one chance to get all decked out and hang out with my decked out coworkers, drinking and eating on the company. We usually spend the whole night out on the patio smoking cigars though. I look forward to it.

I was just thinking of an alternative, excuse me . Sounds like company christmas parties suck, kind of reminds me of Office Space. Oh well.

Yeah, ours was this past Saturday. Ordinarily it's a decent affair and at least there's free food, but they decided to have a big thing for everybody's kids and do the whole Santa thing.

It was a real nice sentiment, and the kids had a lot of fun, but not exactly my bag.

a mate of mine got layed of from owrk, and his company chrstmas party was laso his going away party. Now, he'd gotten laid off becuase he'd had some huge fight with his boss that hardly anybody knew about, and hte boss wanted ot keep it that way, so at the going away party he got up and made a huge speech about how good a worker this guy was and how valuable he was to the company and how sad it was that he had to leave. After this my mate got up and said "I've only got one thing to say" then he walked over to the boss, shook his hand and said...

"fuckyou, fuckyou very much"

hehe... it was the only right thing to do!

ROTFL!!!!!! Did that really happen? Either way, it's a great story.
