I just want to thank Ford, wherever you are, for designing the 2000 Ford Focus that I bought on Saturday evening. It's awfully nice. I enjoy driving it to places that allow cars, such as parks, places-of-business and "homes". It's very well designed, and I have given the nomenclature "Starkles Minutiae" to the car. Thank you.

I must admit that I had a Ford Festiva for 10 years and I loved it. I still got 40 MPG when I sold it and never had a smidge of trouble with it. The only reason I got rid of it was that I had a child and got really nervous with him in it. I didn't mind me getting smashed up, but I didn't think it would be fair to him.
So, now I drive a, are you ready?, MINIVAN! I have to stop a every gas station that I see just to keep it's "gas" habit fed. Plus the Festiva was a stick and the van is automatic. I had a few sudden stops trying to step on the clutch!

American cars? I thought you guys were talking about Ford and Chevy! I'm pretty sure they're all manufactured by Mitsubishi now.

Not a ford! Anything but a ford! Personal prefrences keep me from buying anything that has Ford written anywhere on it. Even if you buy a car off a lot that sells Fords, Chrysler, GM, Chevy, you can bet those other cars have been infected by the plauge that is Ford!

dan: i seriously doubt you could handle a beemer, maybe a bimmer... but not a beemer.

*sigh*

a beemer is a true BMW... it's a motorcycle.

they call those junk boxes (cars) bimmers.

Real quickie for Dan...

How old are you? How many cars have you used? Heheh

Anyway, Ford has totally changed it's image and design. The new Fords really are very reliable. My parents both have Fords, as do my brother and sister-in-law, and none of them have any problems...

So, new Fords are good. Old Fords are tempermental.

old, old fords were somewhat cool... way back before the 70s when they had style and finese and real quality.

the 70s and 80s were just bad for car designs.. but now we're in 2000 and ford is making lovely bubble cars.

delightful.

i fucking hate cars with a passion. damn it all to hell.

Not being familier with the model, I have to ask is that a 'new' car or 'new to you'?

hehe We're driving an 84 Ford Laser Hatchetback. It's a great little bomb.

We had a v8 before. The difference in cost of fuel, rego, tyres, insurance, repair .....is simply wonderful.

My friend had a car in high school...a hatchback that was flesh-colored and had the license plate 254-EAR. We called it the Earmobile.

Just thought I'd mention it...

BTW, somebody mentioned Jettas. I kind of like the new Jetta. Was thinking of getting a silver one for my next car. Anyone have any experience with them?

Ah how cares? Its all a melting pot now anyway. American cars with foreign parts. Foreign cars built in America.

Just buy a Hummer and forget it...

I live in Michigan, the car capital of the world, and I know quite a few motorheads (I am not one, however). I can't think of a single person I know that likes ford vehicles.

My ex girfriends dad is like a wanna be GI Joe. Anyway, he has a hummer and he treats it like it was his daugher. Seriously. I hated that thing. It was like a dull yellow and I personally think they are the ugliest things on the road.

Anyway, neither me nor my parents have ever owned a Ford but havent they gotten significantly better over the years? Theres a lot of Taurus' and Explorers out on the road now. I dont see why people would buy them if there so low quality.

Anyone have any experiences with those supposedly cheaper cars such as Kia's or Saturns? My and my friends decided to count how many Saturns we could find when we were at this ice hockey tornment and we got somewhere near 300 which I thought that was a lot for about 3 days. No one cares do they?

I think it's because Ford markets for the 'family type', they'd like you to think that their cars are safer, just because they have lower top speeds.. but in actuallity, they're the same metal, with the same breaks, gears, and wheels. Just a lot less sporty.. and less badass, you need badass

If I was forced to buy American, I'd get something from GM.. but hell no, I'm gonna get an Aston Martin (James Bond all the way!).. when I have the money, that is.

Until then, I'll go through various Porche's and Lamborghini's (Haha, yeah, I'm dreaming

Ford generally does cater to the family types, it's true. But with the Ford Focus, especially the two-door coup, they're not marketing it, basically, at all for families whatsoever. It's for the younger, "hipster dude" crowd...and I'm proud to consider myself a hipster dude.

In any effect, the new Ford cars (and the new VWs, which I almost bought, ie the Jetta), are absolutely a designers' car. They're sleek, have very interesting designs inside (the dash, the control panels, etc), and are just pleasing to the eye.
