I read a dutch magazine last and this stated that :"Some scientists from the Weizman-institute in israel has managed to code odors in math formulas. So now they could code these formulas in to the byte of an computer. Hence to spread odors via the internet....".

- So Netscape or MS has to invent "OML" or odor-markup-language Lol
- What about this future dialog

<question:> "I wish to make a new site and i want to make it smell as roses. But in Netscape 9.5 it always smells as burned rubber. How can i change it?"
<answer:>"In Netscape there is a little bug if you use the {ODOUR} tag. when you use the {odour =good; smells as Roses} in stead of
{odour= rose} it will be alright. Notice the not to use capitalized letters".

As far as i know it could be an hoax. But who knows.....
wonder what the forum would smell like? Sweat from al those hard working members? neh...

Actually this is not a hoax. I have heard two or three reports on the radio and heard interviews from the scientist that are working on the project.

You would need a periferal attachment to your computer to make it work.

It will probably be two to trhee years before we see them although don't be surprised if some people start to have them in the next year.

This has to be the silliest thing I've ever heard. Hyperbole, you cannot say that so seriously, you must crack wise. Are you a robot?

I for one will not be buying the aroma peripheral in the next 3 years. There I've said it and I'll stand by it, unless it's USB then I'll consider it when they get cheaper.

I agree with you that it is a silly idea. I thought so at the time I first heard it. But, people are actually working on it and think they can make a lot of money selling the idea on the internet.

I can't believe the money and effort spent on these kinds of technology...

Although, I'll admit, I'd be the first to set up an "Identify this Smell" contest page on my site.

I read about the technology first from an israeli company named SenseIt Technologies that was recently bought by Digiscent http://www.digiscents.com/

The friendly people at Digiscent now gives you....iSmell!

more info from foxnews http://www.foxnews.com/vtech/050400/smell.sml

WOOOHOOO! We rock!
This research / development got quite a lot of cover in newspapers here some time ago. I personally think its a nice idea but will take some time to be made usable, and will probably cost quite a bit right at first. The success in coding odors is a great achievement nevertheless. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">
