That is hilarious! I was at CES on Sat. and saw a video of game footage of the XboX. It looks cool and all but I think PS2 is just as good and Nintendo will be even better. Anyway, cool link.

lol, that's pretty good.

XBox looks phat, but I ain't letting Bill Gates into my living room... He already owns my office. Next Microsoft will be releasing bathroom accessories.

AND speaking of links...or Link, I'm looking at the Zelda site that was linked from that page. Oh God. I love Nintendo. I love Shigeru Miyamoto. Ever since I played Super Mario Brothers on my sparkling new NES as a little kid. Gets me all choked up... I ain't kidding! Dreamcast is awesome, PS2 is cool (I guess), XBox is neato mosquito... But my heart belongs to the Gamecube. For better or for worse, I am a Nintendo fan. Always have been; always will be. Ok, I'm done. I need to find a tissue.

Edit: Actually, now this has me thinking. These next-generation consoles are amazing, if you look at it. I've been playing console games for something like 14 years now... I was too young when the original Nintendo Entertainment System came out to remember, but people were astonished with the fact that the games weren't single-screen anymore. It scrolled! Then when the next consoles - Genesis, SNES - came out, I was blown away by the graphics. I didn't think they could do that kind of thing. And then came the Super FX chip in SNES games. Wow, three dimensional objects on my Nintendo?! Then, moving into recent history, the Playstation, and the Saturn came out. 32-bit processing power? Wow! Then, the Nintendo 64... Holy sweet fahking Jesus. Sixty-four bits of power. I thought this thing was straight from heaven. How could things get any better than this? Heh, I bought it the morning it came out, at Best Buy. I got one of the last ones! Die-hard Nintendo fan, like I said. I ate this stuff up. All the hype surrounding the specifications, the screencaps, the game development schedules... I ate it up. I don't know how many times I read through magazines touting "N-sider N-fo On the Nintendo Ultra 64!" I really thought Nintendo and Sega and Sony had gone as far as possible with the console, and now...this. Net play. 128-bit power. All kinds of insane specs. Nintendo giving up their beloved cartridges?!! Holy crap! Well, this is the new millennium, after all. I'm thinking about the games that blew my mind when they came out... All the old Nintendo classics: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid... It's crazy. I never thought I'd see the day when my mind would be blown by a new generation of game consoles, and yet... That day is today. Man. I need to sit down. That was a lot of rambling. I guess that's why I aspire to be a console game designer... I'm gonna impress Mr. Miyamoto himself!

Sadly, the most recent Legend of Zelda game wasn't produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and it shows, a bit. Sorta sad... I still remember the first one, that was a great game.

Can't wait for the game cube. I'm a Nintendo fan, too, even though I hate the way they have such high prices. I only hope I can afford the system and the time to play with it once I'm in college...

Good God !!!

A collection of Nintendo enthusiasts... a rare occurrance indeed.

In Ireland, the Playstation (original) is still the clear winner in the console wars, even mentioning you are a Nintendo fan is frowned apon here.

I have to say, Nintendo do write the most polished games in the world (even if their output cannot be described as prolific). Zelda 'The Ociana of time' is a prime example of this (and rates as my #1 best game of all time). The fluid movement and beautifully Intelligent controls, the 'we will jump for you' addition (no more split second button mashing just to have your character fall to a perilous death), the beautiful camera system... Ahhh, the joy, the joy.

I certainly hope the big N has been taught a lesson by the N64 though. They now realise the American and European markets take precedense over the Japaneese - this should at least mean smaller waiting times for games to be converted for import (text, graphics) at the Gamecube stage of things.

They have also learnt how not to be bitten by high cartridge costs - True, the DVD system being used by the Gamecube is of a proprietary nature but this will not affect the cost of DVD production for the new console (unlike the N64 cart system which cost a hell of a lot of money to license, set up and use.. hell, even cutting a test cart cost around $20000).

Additionally, I forsee a wealth of launch title's - this was another serious mistake the N64 made and one that they will not repeat with the Gamecube.

Can you imagine a Gamecube Zelda ? Well, it's in production already (unofficially of course !). There are also rumors of Perfect DarkII for launch and we will see Factor5 releasing a new StarWars game as well. Personally, I can't bloody wait....

Dam it, I'm a 30 year old child !

I was personally not too fond of the N64... Out of its over 400 games, there were only two or three that I consider good. Goldeneye was one, and I can't really decide between Mario 64 and Zelda: OoT, so I guess that makes three good games.

That's still a 1:133 good:total game ratio, which is really pathetic. The SNES had better games (Chrono Trigger!), and it didn't have the ass-suck controller and the blurry "antialiasing". The gamecube looks yum, hopefully they won't let Pokemon anywhere near it.

And don't get me started on the PS2, and the suckage thereof.

Zelda was the best. I swear I couldn't stop playing the first one. I would play that thing for hours. I got to the point where I actually beat the game without dying once. That is how pathetic I was!

I think the Europeans are prejudiced because of the PRIZES!
869 German marks, that's around 500$ or 300 pounds in the UK. For that prize, peeps buy themselves three PsOnes or two dreamcasts. I'd buy some equip for my PC instead...but..dang. I've played the PS2 in a store a few days ago. It looks...well... AWESOME. I'd love to see WipeOut there, it would probably blast me against the wall.

hmmm. maybe that's a misunderstanding: i wanted to know: which console is produced in europe?

my neighbour got the PS2 for christmas. we've played an snowboard-game there... the graphics great i must say! really great! and you get a DVD-player! but you're right flik, the prize is horrible: 6000ATS. and then you haven't got a game, just the demo-cd.... that's sony!

Grumble, according to the work prizes here in Europe, a PS2 would probably cost as much as a brand new car

Ha, ha.. No, I actually meant games production, not console production.

Games are usually released in Japan before the porting work begins for the American/European markets (Nintendo). This disgruntled many gamers (quite rightly too) and so, Nintendo will probably work on aligning release dates for the Gamecube throughout all territories.

As far as I know, no console is produced in Europe though... sob, sob..

even if it was, the price wouldn't drop. Flik is actually correct, I can buy a second hand small car for the price of a PS2 and have it insured and road taxed for the price of a second controller and my first game !
