Yes, I'm the dummy! I was ridding my hard drive of all the programs and file folders I no longer need. I really went on a tare, except now when I start my computer up, I get on "error starting program" dialog box that says I am missing this .dll file *BR_SRVC.DLL*. I have no idea what program is looking for it, so I don't know where to look for a replacement. As usual, any assistance is gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Usually you can go to Microsoft and do a search for it. It will bring up whatever it is.

You may need to search your wininstall disk.

If you can get it to boot, (?) maybe from a Start up floppy ? Go>>Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System tools>>System Information>> From the Tools menu Select>> System File Checker>> Choose>>*Extract one file from instalation disc *and let it search your Prog discs for it.
I`m runninig Win98 SE and my machine tells me that I don`t have that file, so maybe it`s from a stand alone ?

Hope that`s what you`re looking for.

Ran a search on Google for that file. Here is a link I came up with that might help you out.

Thanks for the link Krets. It put me on the right track. I had to reinstall some of the programs from my recovery disk untill I hit the right one, but it's fine now.

Thanks again
