does anyone know of a forum like this for Adobe Illustrator for a mac. My colleagues and I have a question thats needs answering. Or is anyone using this forum an expert already?

To anyone who knows
Our question is about the gradient mesh tool. I hope I explain myself ok.
On page 191 of the Illustrator 8 book the chapter of gradient mesh tool there is a picture of an apple with a gradients on it in specific places. When we go to create our meshes and have 3 choices of appearance which ever one we choose it fills the entire space. Even looking at the mesh diagram doesn't shed any light on the suject. I assume the mesh has been manipulated which we can do but it didn't look anything like the diagram. I even scanned in the apple and drew round it in an attempt to get the affect.

We all have absolutely nothing to do at work, so we are making the most of our time and trying to learn something.

Well, the gradient mesh tool in AI8 wasn't nearly as powerful as we all wanted it to be, but it's still got the capabilities. I'm assuming you've not laid out your guides on which to place the gradients. Once you've created your mesh base (all black, default) you draw lines to determine where different colors will be. Then you place them..

It might be more helpful for you to go through the AI help files on the machine, since they can give you step by step instructions better than I can here.

Steve's right. If you let it create the lines of mesh or if you do it manually, just click on one of the points in the line or click in a quadrant and select a color.
