'linear', 38.967, -94.667, 'linear@linear1.org', 'http://linear1.org/'

People have found this site useful in determining their location.

And the locator is here.

Take a look at this time zone map and you'll see why I didn't (don't) want to tackle that. Like the open source guys say, "feel free to submit a patch."

The boxes disappear when you click the asterisk again. Kinda. You can have multiple boxes open (they're not modal), which I thought was maybe something that was a good feature. There's a problem with my implementation (I'm using a global state variable for the visibility and toggling it). I've been to busy basking in all the love to actually get off my butt and fix it. The fix is that the visibilty fo the popup DIV should be a property of the inmate object (not a global), I just haven't coded it up.

If I were looking for a giant time suck right now, I would code this up so that it called xearth on demand to generate the map, let the user pick the size and colors and crap, center the view on the user's time zone (passed in magically via JS, and I'd have xearth calculate the correct position of the sun, so you could see who's in the dark right now. My host won't let me have a shell, so that's off the table for right now.

The only further enhancement I'm interested in right now is to integrate this with the Asylum's user management to free me from having to add inmates manually. Inmates should be able to put their lat/long in the UBB profile and maintain it with that tool.

if you would have the time to come over here to give us a helping hand,
