Is it possible to put a veto on that users who are really annoying, i mean, a king of vote where only you can choose if that person can stay or leave this forum? You know, some lately posts had make me think about that.....

Possible, perhaps. But we've had discussions lately about banning members, and it's something that we just don't *want* to do. For one thing, it sort of gives us power in a way we shouldn't have it. For another, it's wicked easy to just come back with a different screen name.

Our strategy is to bug them until *they* want to leave. Twitch seems to be the head of this department at times. =)

Usually the problems sort themselves out, anyway. The important thing is that the people who frequent the asylum keep their cool, more or less. So far it seems to me that all the problems have involved people new to the board. It sort of bugs me, it's like a freshman talking back to a senior if you know what I mean, but, um, again, it usually sorts itself out one way or another.

two concepts i would like to propose here (that can be used in combination) are:
1) email - most people have it, if not, try asking for it
2) tact - there may just be a simple misunderstanding, so try giving them the benefit of the doubt, and send a to the point, mature message before flaming their genitals off.

there's just no good way to accomplish something of that nature, and there hasn't been any real need to either.

Don't take people too seriously, Wakkos. I mean, sometimes DL and I go at each other's throats, but it's all harmless. Hell, if everybody got along, this forum would be like an episode of the Smurfs or the Carebears... and I hope nobody wants that! Lets just stick to Punky Brewster.

A while back we had a discussion about banning and it came out that no one has ever been banned from the Asylum. I personally would like to keep it that way. The idea of a certain "in" group getting together and outcasting someone makes me want to puke. I think buncha made a very good point about building rather than trashing relationship. In the cases where someone insists on being a jerk, then I still favor the current method which is to let them do the leaving on their own.

Yikes, I hope I'm not one of the members Wakkos is talking about.

Doc is pretty vocal about this whole issuse. No member of the Asylum has ever been banned and he wants to keep it that way. You start banning people, restricting words, limiting freedom and there goes the creativity. We all tend to get along pretty well though. Every once and a while a thread starts where it seems people are pitted against each other, but no one really holds grudges in here.

It's all about fun, just remember that.

BTW When I first looked at the subject of your first message, I thought that you are talking about Microsoft, heh...

That's what I thought too, Max... "guys with the power"... how could that NOT be Microsoft?

I thought that we have more power than that people over there in Microsoft.....

MS is most used abbreviation for Microsoft, so that's why I thought about that company...

Anyway, we have a lot of power, too...

I like to think of our little asylum as a kind of "benevolent dictatorship", with me as the chief dictator (usually asleep in the back room, hanging out with my "harem of one" =) and all of the other MS'es as associate dictators! Coolest would be if everyone here became so devoted to keeping this place as we want it to be kept, we'd all be administrators. Actually, that's kind of where we are right now, hmm? I love this place, still think it's the best thing I ever created, (although I just started it up, *you* created it as it is!) We're actually kind of unique on the net, d'you realize that? No adverts, minimal jerks, lots of good feeling amongst the members, never have I had a better group of friends. Wakkos, act as crazy as you want to and/or can act, you're just not *mean* enough to make a good jerk! We'll help you along as best we can though, because we *believe* in you!

So I'll face up to the fact that I'm a asshole, but like I said I only deal the amount of shit back to those that deal it out to me, but there isn't anything "persoanl" about it, and it makes me laugh more than it makes me mad
