Preserved Topic: Where can I get GOOD free web space? (Page 1 of 1)

Is there any free web space where the url can be the domian name? Every place I have seen has there title first, /what ever my account name is. For instance, Tripod.com.

I have had trouble tracking down webspace that is both 'good' and 'free'. I think in this instance the adage 'you get what your pay for' applies. There are a few suggestions in this thread. including hypermart, and others. You can get reasonable hosting for around $10-15/month with domains costing about 10$ a year its not that much of a burden to pay for hosting anymore.

Just on the question here... is there a place where you can buy domain names by paying checks and stuff instead of credit cards... cuz i'm a few years away from one and don't know anyone that has one (Pls don't ask if i have parents)

Well, they probably learned from f2s how to grab customers by default but, unlike f2s, they already have paid hosing options. The ride will be free for awhile, until as f2s has, they claim their nonexistent support for free users is dragging everybody down...and they try to convert ya.

just that f2s also always had non-free hosting plans too. but who would take them if the free are good as well.

Well I use AT@T @home. They give me 70mb free. There address for my free account is www.home.attbi.com/~username I don't know if I can change it.

You can use URL redirecting service like cjb.net or bipx.com...

Of course you could get busy and write some tutorials for the GurusNetwork!

try gizba.com 500mb with 2/3 pop ups, no ftp, no cgi-bin and a lot of file restrictions that can be overrided with some imagination
not very fast either, but unlike angelfire, deals well with frames.
That, netbiz.com (i i-frame my cgi-bin from here) and angelfire are the best free thingies you can probably find now.

Real webhosting.... there are a lot of them coming now.... depends on what you're after... if you want some dedicated server, i would definitely recomend bluedomino.com
It's coffecup's affiliated and it's the best i could find... for the right price of course.
