if you want to save some bucks I would go for an older (slower) model (which are much cheaper) and the difference in 'actual' burning times is negligable. |

Plextor continuously gets the best marks for writers. They currently have the fastest drive, a 40x, that has been tested to write a complete CD in under 3 1/2 minutes. It's got a good buffer, over/under run protection, and reliability. The last 1/2 dozen drives we've bought have been Plextor, and we don't have any complaints. |

Friend of mine has a Plextor. For as much as he uses it, I'm suprised it lasted as long as it did. Pure quality. |

A slower, cheaper model seems like it would work fine, unless you're burning hundreds of disks per day. |

Plextors and Teac are great burners from what i've heard over the years. I use Hewlett Packard, always have and probably always will. I'm on my second model from HP. Just brand loyal i guess. |

I've heard from a friend of ours who is a collector of... evaluation softwares, heh. Apparently, most of the people who have that hobby agree that a Plextor is the only CDRW you should buy; when Malin bought hers this friend was *insistent*, we *had* to buy this particular drive, no other! I don't have any recommendations for online outlets though, do some comparison shopping, it's out there. |
