i see winnt is pretty well covered, so i'll focus on win9x/Me

first of all, if you are only trying to prevent users to close a certain program via the task manager (ctrl+alt+del) then the use of the RegisterServiceProcess function is sufficient. (winnt has a lot more efficient way to achieve this via the service manager).

otherwise, the only way i know of to disable ctrl+alt+del is with a vxd. now that can get tricky...

anyway, i guess the first one is your case, so i hope i've been helpful. i would be glad to answer any questions you still might have.

Grumble, I'm on Win2k now, but I know how to disable ctrl-alt-del for w9x/me via SystemParametersInfo() windows api.

sec let me code it, compile it and upload it for you.

from delphi help:

quote:
SPI_SCREENSAVERRUNNING Windows 95 only: Used internally; applications should not use this flag.

hmmm. i wonder...
it works, though (win98se too!)

anyway, i'd like to hear grumble's ideas on these...

grumble: just out of curiosity, do you really want to disable ctrl+alt+del? because it can get quite frustrating not to be able to close a 'misbehaving' program. especially with win9x/me

that will be a public/kiosk pc with only one single application running. the application already prevents alt+f4 and others. now the only thing remaining was ctrl+alt+del.

if the pc or the app crashes... well... i dont know. lets just hope it doesnt happen.
