OT: i know, its still 220 in most countries, but i thought that the EU (European Union) is propagating 110V for europe. adapting to the US.

I think that conversion is impossible... It would cost 100 billions usd.
But if you do it over an 15 year period than the old stuff you have is outdated so you must buy new stuff.

OT: As far as voltage is concerned, if you want to be 100% precise, then you must say that voltage actually varies between 220 and 240 volts in EU countries (i.e. 240 volts is in Great Britain). But, when speaking people generally use values of 220 and 110 volts.
