Yikes, I never heard anything from any singer/band mentioned here so far, with the exception of many from Wakkos list and AC/DC, Ozzy and Sepultura that I've heard about but never heard a music from them. |

You call Linkin Park genius?! Ack, don't get me started on them - they're just as bad as the Backdoor Boys, nsync, and the rest of those "boy bands". And NEVER knock Ozzy. Ever. |

Linkin Park's style and lyrics are both genius yes. Their songs are deep, rythmic, and they rock HARD. Ozzy's "songs" are one dimentional (sp?) and boring. The man can't sing and often can't even remember his own thoughtless lyrics. I would listen to NSync before I would disgrace my ears with his lack of talent. At least the "boy-bands" out there have a handle on tone and pitch. |

I wouldn't go as far to say that, mas. I'd listen to Linkin Park over Papa Roach anyday. A bunch of friends and I sat around listening to Papa Roach one day, and we picked out at least 4 songs from one CD where the ripped off riffs or bass/drum beats from some other band. If you were to use the description of "1 dimensional" and "thoughtless lyrics" for a band, I would apply it to them. |

synax, honestly you could listen to any band's album and find at least 4 songs with riffs "ripped" from someone else (if not all of them). Not saying p-roach is cool I'm kinda wishy-washy on them myself. |

Actually, as far as the Nu Metal goes, wouldn't Jonathan Davis be kind of the iconic progenitor as opposed to Mr. Fred "Ass-Clown" Durst? I think that it was in Q(or one of those mags that I just can't live without) that they did an interview with Davis and traced his recording history and whatnot. Not stating fact, just a thought. And Linkin park = deep? In my opinion, they boys are a bit manufactured. Very clean, very crisp, their guitarist definitely knows his way around a catchy riff, but as far as anything new to offer the world of heavy metal......if there's something there, I'm not seeing it. I'd love to get more into this today, but I have to go cliff-diving here in a few |
