If you know how to put a page together in HTML, the next thing you should learn about would be CSS. Have a look at the font formatting properties, play around with borders, paddings, margins and you'll soon find that it's pretty easy to make your pages look more appealing that way. The CSS tutorials at the GN are a good place to start, and there are also some other useful links in the FAQ. |

Trigger: I think kuckus has hit all the important points. My only extra recommendation would be to drop your sites into site reviews and we'll let you know where you are going wrong (and going right of course) and give you pointers on how to address specific aspects. Anyway things might not be as bad as you think |

Yes, definitely learn CSS. But don't learn it because it makes your pages look neat (although it certainly does), learn it because tables were never ment for page layout, because separating form and content is the way to go. I guess what I'm trying to say is that CSS isn't just another cool gadget, it's the future of the web (or at least one part of it). Like Ducati said, it will open up new doors for you, and hopefully change the way you think about building web pages. |
