I was actually hoping WS would do it and give it a more suitable name... (see my last post in the previous thread)

As for dates, I'm free this coming Saturday (I mentioned that in my last post in the previous thread, but I guess it got lost in the shuffle).

Since everyone in the Dragonhunt campaign is also in this one, I might as well post here instead, since it would affect both groups. Since running two campaigns on the same schedule is obviously impossible, what would you gentlemen say to playing Veneficuz's campaign and mine on alternating weekends?

edit: To Suho, Petskull, etc, I know it sounds selfish to ask you not to play at all half the time. But it sort of looks like the alternative is to put the Dragonhunt back on the shelf (or start over with different players). Thoughts?

Well, I'm sure Petskull won't mind.

As for me, I most likely won't be able to play every weekend, and this will generally come out to every other weekend for me (I generally go visit the in-laws every other weekend). If you wouldn't mind, maybe we could work it out so that you could play the Dragonhunt campaign when I'm unavailable, as long as this works out to be about every other week. What do you think?

RN3, just read a little ways into this transcript and perhaps it'll become clear.

The basic idea is this: One person, the "Game Master" or "Dungeon Master," imagines a world. Everyone else is a "player" -- they control characters in this world. The GM explains what's happening, and the players tell the GM what their characters are doing. For example...

GM: So, what now?
Player: I head down to Division Street to get a bratwurst.
GM: Okay, when you arrive, the street is crowded with the lunch-hour rush. People jostle you from all sides. All the vendors are doing a brisk business.
Player: I get in line at one of the hot dog stands.
GM: After you've waited in line for a minute or two, a burly biker-type cuts in front of you without so much as a by-your-leave.
Player: Really? Okay, I tap him on the shoulder. "Hey, buddy, wait your turn!"
GM: He turns around slowly, with a menacing expression. "You got a problem, chumpo?" He's got an eye-patch, a giant scar, eight face piercings, and more tattoos than normal skin.
Player: "Yeah, I've got a problem! A problem with your ugly face!"
GM: He's not happy to hear that. Looks like it's a fight!

Of course, these games usually take place in more of a fantasy or science fiction setting, but the basic principle is the same. There are usually complex rules governing combat between characters -- that's where the dice and things come in, and some people move little figures around on a map, too.

The best way to think of it is that it's an interactive story, told by a group of people, which can sometimes use board-game elements. However, all the dice and miniatures and things can be removed; the story cannot.

RN3: Fortunately for the faint of heart, though, PT cut that last transcript off right before the Player got stomped into a pancake...

PT: Since I'll be able to play this weekend (and next weekend is the lunar new year, so I won't be playing then), how about scheduling Dragon Hunt for next weekend?

If Skaarjj is cool, then we just need to hear from tiki...

That sounds good -- we can run the rest of WS's prologue with Veneficuz and Tikigod (and if Skaarjj wishes to sit in he'll have his choice of NPCs to run). Then we can do Tikigod's prologue with Skaarjj on the next open weekend. That's better than our current plan for Tiki's prologue, which involved his wife getting cross with him again.

So, unless anyone chimes in with a different opinion, we'll do that on the weekend after this one.

OK... now that everyone but tiki has said they can play, how about we work on a time--if possible, a time that won't require tiki to stay up all night. I know it's rough for our European contingent to get up early, but I think tiki has been making the greatest sacrifices in the time department. So, if at all possible, can we make things a little easier on him this time around?

I would also consider a complete shift in our schedule... for example:

1100 GMT
----------
0600 Georgia
1200 European Crew
2000 Korea
2200 Australia (?- I think Skaarjj is two hours ahead of me... right?)

I imagine that this would make things easier on tiki. Of course, Skaarjj would take the brunt of this time schedule, but at least no one would be starting at one o'clock in the morning (or whatever obscene hour we started playing at last time). It would also be easier on the European Contingent, since they wouldn't have to get up early.

Granted, I wouldn't be able to play as long, since I have to get up early the next day, but if we started on time I could guarantee at least four hours.

So, what do you think?

[Edit: I talked to Mrs. tiki a few hours ago, and apparently tiki is bed-ridden, which would explain his absence. I just hope it wasn't because of his all-night session last time...]

1500 GMT is my limit, too, so that works out. And if we actually start playing on time, that would give us a solid four hours. Just imagine how much we could play if WS didn't phase out every other minute!
