here's a new wallpaper i played around with here and there over the last week maybe 10 or 15 minutes at a time...go ahead a tear it apart...

10-15 minutes? It shows. The image in unbalanced the right side being almost pure white and the left being dark and black, try to spread the two...

It just really doesn't do it for me...

It takes a fair time to download and when it does - it doesn't really say anything to me, sorry. How could you use this as wallpaper - there's not much you could put ontop of it??

hmm...i seem to get these kinda response to a lot of my wallpapers, in fact i think only one or two of them has ever gotten applause -or maybe 2 for 6(critiqued not made)isn't a bad average...any suggestions for salvaging this one. I guess my original intention was for my laptop at home but then i got more involved. It was meant for the traditional windows user that kinda kept there icons as default, so that was the purpose of the blank left side. Basically all it was came from two scans of an x ray photo, a buncha twirling, blurring, polar coordinates, erasing, and layer modes...whatever, back to the drawing board - er, photoshop...i'll try to balance it out more...

Uh, anyone bitching about load time...it's a .w.a.l.l.p.a.p.e.r. It isn't to be optimized for the net, it's supposed to be in the best possible form to avoid loss.

Now, that being said, the composition is actually quite good. I think there needs to be a couple more faded "swirl" lines fading off into the top left to achieve a bit more of the flowing arch for your composition, but the overall look is quite smooth. I always ask people "why?" when they make wallpaper (ie: what's it mean) but if it's just to look good, then so be it.

Lining up icons along the left and right sides is actually how most (read that before bitching folks..."most") people still seem to default, even if they don't use the Win defaults for that. So the offsets in balance are perfect, as long as they're smart enough to choose good display options.

I like the colour scheme, since the motion of cool greens against black backgrounds is always a nice feel. I'd say though if you're going with the geometrical shapes on top there, I'd make them a bit more blatant, instead of just being one or two, large flat areas. The perspective is nice...keep working it. The introductions of a more solid focus might be nice as well..but hardly necessary.

My major bitch would be the small res..let's see this cleaned up a bit, and at 1280 at least. It's nice work just needing a few edging touches net..good job.

I have to wonder if your intent was to come off as an overblown arrogant windbag who doesn't have a leg to stand on, nor the knowledge to do so, but still tries to kick another person....or if it was merely an accident.

Please feel free to enlighten me as to whether it was a character flaw, or just misread typing please.

I wonder less and less why I spend less and less time here lately.

Netmosis ~ Other than the fact that it's too small to look good on my desktop (1600x1200) I dig it completely. I made a wallpaper in that same vein of look and feel a few years back, and I loved it then. And I love it now.

So, nicely done. Unbalanced? Makes sense in a wallpaper--gotta have icons somewhere.

Blocky? Of course--nice contrast against the curves of the side.

I could cite another article here for Sloloem to learn from, but I doubt he's read it nor gleen anything off it.

But if you would like, I'll type it anyway...later.

the wallpaper is alright... i really like the look of the inside, where the spirals are concentrated. i would personally try to integrate that portion into another image, because i'm not extremely liking the right side of the background. the white space on the right with the greenish textures, nah... but like peter mentioned, maybe you could play with it a little and slap up a version at like 1600x1200 resolution or something? and if you wouldn't mind, i'd maybe download it and play with it myself, just want to see what i could do with your cool elements.

and not to seem like i'm jumping on the bandwagon with peter.. but sloloem, i do think your attitude needs to be addressed.

you talk more shit on the board than even i do and honestly i don't think you could give any good advice if it was required. at least i've designed web sites and made graphics that people here have critiqued and sometimes even liked, plus i've made web sites for clients that i get paid money for and for friends that enjoy my work.

all i've seen from you since you've got here is 500 posts of bullshit, a bunch of bad .sig graphics, and one crappy template for a web design you never did anything with.

perhaps you should take some time and try working on your graphic design skills, if that's actually what you intend to do eventually.. or maybe you're just here to heckle people trying to accomplish things you've never even attempted.

i'd say i was sorry for coming across like an asshole, but i'm just stating the truth as i see it..

Whats the links to some of your other backgrounds?

I like this one, except there are some wierd squares that seem out of place. Maybe the reason some people didn't like your other ones was because they were more abstract. But i think abstact iS cOoL. jAkE.

small but cool. I like the colors and the flow. That's the trouble with desktops, the daggum icons!!! It's hard to lay crap on top of something cool (for me anyhow).

You guys want bigger res? I just gave the link to the 800x600 version, but i have it all up to 1280. Sorry twitch this is the wallpaper i decided not to make above 1280 res. oh yeah this wallpaper had a meaning when i started but i actually ended up editing all the stuff that conveyed it out or didn't add it...originally it was something about how there is so much superficial media and people. The two images that were mainly used in this were pictures of x-rays from my friends broken arm...
