Hey,

I'm fixing up some photos for a friend, and I have one that in which the flash or something killed the image.

I was wondering if there was any way to clear up the image. I blurred the faces because it belongs to a friend of mine. I played with the curves, but the guy on the right kept getting swallowed up by the darkness. Please help.

if the guy on the right is your *only* problem.. make a nice clean selection around the areas that are getting *too dark* , invert the selection and then apply your curves to the part of the photo outside the guy on the right, thus protecting him... it will have to be a very good selection and dont forget to save the selection so you can use it over

There are other ways also but all take time and practice..

hope that helps a bit

edit: when I say 'clean selection I mean accurate as well as feathered to a degree, you'll have to experiment.. if you dont feather you will more than likely get a hard transition between the modified areas and the un modified areas! heh

Stooges...hehe. That's funny.

That reminds me...I'll have to borrow those tapes from my dad sometime. Last spring I taped a 14 hour 3 Stooges marathon for him and never got the chance to watch it myself.

Oh, and thanks for the selections/curves tips vogonpoet. Those will definitely come in handy for some of my pics too.
