Preserved Topic: Just want some tips, tricks...

Like the title says, I just want some good tips, tricks or suggestions for a good splash, cuz I am really out of inspiraction

Oh and I am new here!

And dont mind the sig, I know it sucks, but I just wanted something below, otherwise it would be boring, dont think I am a bad designer, cuz I am not!

I going to make a really good sig to show off with!

can't help ya with the splash if you don't give us all the info.

Well....there are several ways to reply to your post....

First....welcome to the Asylum You took the first step...for inside these walls are the best artist and minds you will ever happen upon Step 2 : Take your Black Pills...that goes without saying.

Now.... I would say... check this topic out or maybe this one . I would also say .... surf....or get out and clear your head. We all get in slumps...things seem to happen when we aren't looking for them. Ideas can come from many places...thing is.....we can tell you what to make...but it's not about us... it's about you.. your vision.... your style

Hmm...

Splash pages.

I'd suggest not using one.

that's my $0.02.

why not!? I think its a way to show off your abilities and to make your visitors to get curious, so again why not!?

Oh, that's easy. It's extra loading time for no extra content. See the issue? I suppose they're okay if you're some sort of egotistical artist that doesn't think s/he can get visitors based off of his/her regular work, so s/he makes a splash screen to entice people to enter...

but when I see one, I close the window.

um.... the only time i see a need for a splash skreen is when you are giving the personages the choice between a high speed connection, or a slow connection.

what about SHTML pages though? I cant get them to work as index pages so i would use a splash to link to them. am i missing someting here?

Yeah, you're missing this line in a file called .htaccess in your document root:
DirectoryIndex index.shtml index.html
