I still think the lighting is off... maybe it's just me, I dunno.

I dirtied the surface up a little. Added just a little lightening directly under it and a little highlight focused on the marble. What do you think?

If you like it, I'll just have one of those bills, the one with 100 written on it

Both are nice. it may just be my tired old eyes, but it seems the dark is too deep. I mean it should be arced more towards the top curve to keep it from looking flat.
the reflections are really good, but the shadow seems to cut too straight across, ya know what I mean ?

Does this look rounder or is it just me ?

sorry for playing with your ball uninvited. I tried not to leave any smudges.

Nice, Steve. You made it better. Docilebob, I am not so sure it needs to be that round. Look at a real glass ball, the reflections aren't always so rounded. The world is not perfect as we know it. Thanks for playing with my balls though, it tickles!

Well that's pretty. Did you use a 3D program?

mbridge: that's a fine looking ball! Nitpick: 4 shadows, two lights reflected

But very very sweet anyhow

Too bad it's not photoshop.

And Steve, I'm not an expert on shadows, but in mediums with a high index of refraction, couldn't the light be reflected internally several times, thus causing two shadows per light?

Nice try man. Maybe on a double sun solar system?

I'm afraid the light source would have to be at a distance to create a shadow.

But points for trying.

Hey mbridge, how did you do it? Is it PS? Or 3D? If it's PS, jesus! You doin' the work, dude! If not...oh, it's not. It's still nice.

Ya know krets, sometimes my browser goes all screwy on me, and I only see the old posts, so I post, and then these other posts pop up, and then I feel stupid, *Oh, you can call me Ray, you can call me Jay, but don't call me Dejay...*

rotren: The only suggestion I could add is to try makeing the edges of the ball more clear. If you want it too look like glass you'll have to make the edges extra sharp and clean. Another thing detracting form the reality may be the notes in the image, they just don't look real, nor does the marble look like real marble. Just some thought though... Nice work BTW.
