Easy there. Don't get your panties in a bunch. You said before that you were going to

quote:
...put together a portable, 100% Photoshop service.

Now let's think about that... if you were going to make something that is 100% Photoshop, don't you think you'll need the approval of the company that makes Photoshop? So just ease off your high horse before it throws you. And if you really want to know who gives a damn about Adobe's opinion? I do.

Boohoo, Krets. Read it again.

He's talking about making a program that's 100% like Photoshop. I'm saying, talk to Adobe if you're going to duplicate their product. Obviously he can't make it look exactly like Photoshop, but if he's going to try, he should talk to the people who make it. Who knows? Maybe they'll support the idea and even fund it. Maybe they'll request he not duplicate certain things. He's better off talking to them than finding out later that a certain thing is copyrighted or patented.

You know what I'm sick of? I'm sick of assholes with no company spirit that try talk down about me just because I am supportive of the company I work for. I'm sick of "artists" with nothing better to do than try to be demeaning because someone has a differing opinion on a matter, right or not. I'm sick of reading the "hehehe"s from kiss-ass yesmen who can't form a clear rational thought of their own, and instead post shit like, "I was going to say that too!" or "that's just what I was thinking!" whenever someone else posts something intelligent. This isn't high school, so let's just try to get out of this sheep mentality you all seem to be going for and try appreciating someone for having a differing view, rather than talking down about them.

Talk about sheep HS, you've become one.

He's making a program like Photoshop. Do Fireworks, Paintshop Pro, Gimp, CorelDraw, Freehand, and a host of others ring a bell? They are all like Photoshop.

If he can write a program that can duplicate the effects on Photoshop on the web, whats the problem with that? As you pointed out, that render clouds filter, though very nice, is not exactly like the PS render filter.

Just don't give me your double standard bullshit where in one thread you hop on people who use pirated copies of Photoshop and then admit in another that "one day you might register Webcam32."

If you're going to "show some company spirit" by jumping on people who you perceive to be stealing from Adobe, don't go around admitting that you are stealing from other companies. That would tend to label you as a big fat hypocrit.

There's something unnerving about Psychotics and MadSci's getting all heated...

Humanshield - This isn't my business so flame me to death if you like... However, I think you need to decide who you represent when you are in the Asylum. For all I know your AdobeBoss has told you that your online activity regarding PS would be monitored, so you'd better tow the party/company line. Or perhaps Adobe don't know you reside in this Asylum. Either way - you need to decide (and maybe declare) if you are here representing yourself, or the company you work for.

Whichever you decide, I think the "From" box in your profile says a great deal... Represent Adobe? - sure, say you're from Adobe... Represent yourself? - say where you're actually from!

I only pity the guy who goes onto a UBB and puts "From: Microsoft Corp"...

Krets (again, not my place to say but...) Try to avoid biting.. don't rock the boat.. etc etc.. We're in Doc's house here, and if we want to argue, shouldn't we step outside first?

I'm so damn self righteous it hurts.

edit: still can't UBB code though.

Don't give me this webcam32 shit anymore. You bring it up every fucking time, and I've already fucking talked about it. Webcam32 is shareware. As long as it is unregistered, I can only use it for an hour. That is nothing like piracy, and for your info, I haven't used it in months, not that I have to defend myself for using shareware. It's really disappointing that I have to repeat this again and again every time you bring it up. It's almost as if you don't bother to read the responses.

<edit>I just went to the webcam32 site, and unfortunately they've put up a new version and made it a 10-day trial demo instead of the 1 hour shareware version they used to have.</edit>

And for your INFO, since you seem to like to ignore the truth, he did not say he was making a product LIKE Photoshop. His exact words were, "Photoshop and all its features, interface, palettes & tolboxes, etc.." Now, with that statement, I advised him as I thought best. All I suggested was that he talk to Adobe. What the FUCK is wrong with that kind of advice, that you people have to get all defensive and start spouting this shit about me? Jesus Christ, is not like I told him to get on his hands and knees and give Adobe a blowjob in hopes that they'll withhold their god-like power to have him incarcerated for even thinking such a thing. I just said, "talk to Adobe." It seems like you all practically worship Photoshop, but when it comes to the people who make it, it's "aww, fuck 'em." Talk about a double standard.

I love how company spirit makes me a sheep. Maybe I should hate my job so I can be cool like you guys. Maybe I should hope Adobe does REALLY poorly, then maybe I can be out of a job again! Yay!

Good call, Snails. I've edited my info, so as to decrease the confusion. I had Adobe Systems, Inc in the from because that's essentially where I post from (since I'm usually not scouring the forums at night). Instead, I'll just put the place where the office is. I hope that fixes some of your confusion. I don't represent Adobe, and my boss does not hang over my shoulder telling me what to say. I simply love working for Adobe (next best thing to working for ILM). After seeing the whole thing with Dimitry Skylarov, and seeing how up-in-arms people get about the "big corporation going after the little guy", I just don't want to see it again, and when I read this post, with InI talking about duplicating Photoshop, I thought I'd give him some advice.

<edit> I wanted to say... "don't rock the boat"? That's exactly what we want here. This boat needs some rocking. Some "passengers" are getting too cozy.</edit>
