I am new here and to photoshop. I am looking into getting a few books on photoshop. I would like your sugestions which would you get first?

The Photoshop 6 Wow! Book or Photoshop 6 Down and Dirty Tricks or do you have other suggestions?

I would also like to thank those that welcomed me when I posted my small contibution to the weekly Make It. By the way, the new "jacket" fits fantastic, docilebob it seems to have brought out the creativity I had lost, probably from lack of blood flow to my brain.

I hope to have my signature complete the next time I post.

Eyezaer, thanks for the tip about Adobe's Classroom in a Book, I should have said that I have that one and have already devored it, looking for more. As somone that used to use PSP and thought it was a great program I am amazed at all I can do with Photoshop.

I have tried a search in the archives using "books" as a keyword and did not come up with anything. AS well as setting the setting show all topics and reading each one. I thirst for knowledge on the great program. I do have a few links that have bookmarked from here and searches that I still have to find the time to sit and work threw.

For learnming PS6 , i personally find that reading these posts and then trying yourself work the besy for me, i need to see instant results to the stuff i read, and find it alot easier to devour than reading out of books ( although they a good source for quick reference )

If oyu have something specific you need to do, chances are, someone here in the looney bin has already doen it and wil help ya via tutorial link or a personal post.

Thats just my opinion.

Example: befoer ei came here i was linited to whgat i had taught myself, but now i cannot stop myself, hell i always wondered what that STROKE command meant...gees if only i had been here sooner....

But I just bought a new book called "New Masters of Photoshop". Take a look at it here: amazon

There are so many books. You can narrow them down, I guess, based on what you want to use PS for.
Here's a start

I'd have to go with classroom in a book too.

Also, check Adobe's website... they should have some videos you can watch. At least, they do for LiveMotion... haven't checked for Photoshop.

hey i just got that new masters of photoshop book too, its really helpful. For me it's not so much the
techniques themselves but more the way they're being used and combined, it really gets you in the head of the designers involved - i've been really inspired since

cool site from the publishers too, gotta admit i've been a fan since they taught me how to use flash http://www.friendsofed.com
