Hi! Me and a friend of mine are workin on a project right now. Our main goal is to inspire people, and now we are thinkin on the content and concept. We have some ideas and thoughts, but we need something unique...

So, my questions for you are: "What do you get inspired by?" and "What's your definition on inspiration?"

I think of inspiration as a flash, an insight that comes unexpectedly in a sort of "ah hah" moment. It's a break through, a corner turned. Ususally when I have given up on finding an answer, stopped working at it rationally. Might happen in the shower, might happen while mowing the lawn, riding my bike - disengaged consciousness.

What inspires me? If I knew that I'd do it all the time! I can't order inspiration like take-out food! But I can sometimes set up the propitious conditions by shifting my attention to art unrelated to what I do - Mr. Bach's cello sonatas helped this summr, as did T.S.Eliot's poetry.

Music definitely inspires me. I can't think of anything else that consistently does it. I too, find my inspiration when I'm not looking. Most common times seem to be when I'm driving or cleaning my house. Or when I go for a smoke at work.

My definition of inspiration? That's a tough one. I would say it's a sudden drive to create something, surrounded in a passion for the medium.

Steve, I will agree with you. Inspiration is like a flash... yeah! It's unexpected!

Hmm. It's sorta like a trick question. I mean inspiration really isn't something that you can create, it sorta just happens. I suppose there are certain conditions that can cause it to happen faster then normal, I suppose at least. What typically gets me inspired is watching a Broadway play, going out to eat, viewing fine art, but more importantly doodling. I like to go into my backyard on the beach and doodle for a few hours. Nothing in particular. Sometimes a bird, or the break hitting the sure. Anything like that. Eventually my mind wanders and I find myself inspired

I can't tell you the amount of times this question has been asked since I've been a member. Is there a FAQ page somewhere? If not, one should be started.

Different answers, but they all kinda said the same thing. And I agree with you all! It's 2 hard questions... kinda tricky, yes! So now I have to think out something brilliant for my site.... thank you all, you helped me on the way!

Actually, i just save every little piece of art that looks interesting than flash it before my eyes via an image editor and see what pops in my head. Music helps, moods help, the constant screaming of the man chained in my basement is a big help too *grins*

I dunno if i can define inspirtation. A mental babble of creativity? Do i win a cookie?
