I use PS5.5 for everything I do. I tried to take a psd into PS6.01 to get more layers and the color looked terrible. Can anyone tell me how to correct the setting in PS6.01 to make it look the same as PS5.5? Here is a picture of what each one looks like:

Here is PS5.5 http://geda-online.com/Interface_November/

Here is how when taken into PS6.01 http://geda-online.com/rainbow/red.jpg

If anyone can help me solve this I would appreciate it. I think is has to do with the color settings but, I don't know how to set it...I could be wrong though. And I checked in the color mode and it is on RGB.

Thanks for looking and the help.

Open 5.5 and look at your rgb setup. This is found under the file menu>color settings.
Note your setup. Open that file. Save it as a psd. Embed the color profile.
Open 6.0. Open color settings and set to the same as in 5.5. This is found under the edit menu>color settings.
Open that file. When and if it asks you about mismatched color profile...select "discard". Does that work?

Nope...couldn't save it to a PSD...on the 5.5 it was saving it as an ICC...and on 6 it asked for something else.

Ok. You're telling me that you couldn't save it as a Layered Photoshop file in version 5.5?
<hint>This topic should really be in the PS forum anyways...so when someone with the power to move it there comes along....</hint>

Several topics like this in archives regarding this problem with Dodge. Here is one:

If this isn't it, then I'm at a loss.

oh.... hey....

6 is funky when it uses color dodge and burn.... They said that they "fixed" the color dodge/burn in PS 5. If you are using Color Dodge, You need to paint on a Black bg, not transparent. If you are using Color Burn you need to pain on a White bg, not tramsparent.

So If... say... a layer is set to color dodge at 23% Change it to normal at 100%, and merge it down onto a Black layer set to normal. Then Change that back to Color Dodge at 23%... and you should get it to look about the same as in ps5

Ya follow?

I was messing with that just last night... If that is not your problem then I am afraid I don't know what else to tell you. Hope it helps.

Yo eyezaer - don't mess with that merge down stuff. Select "Fill" with the "behind" blend mode. Fills everything transparent with black.

Sweet!

Fill Behind = Friend

I use it all the time. Let's say I have a layer with white and transparent stuff. Let's say I want to do stuff to that layer, like a gauss/levels combo. Well, it's no go. So, fill behind with black, gauss/levels, screen. Simple example. Other uses as well.

Keep it in your bag.

Not something I use that often, but as WJ said, useful to keep in your, uuuh, bag.

This isn't available in the layer palette blend mode popup, but it is available with some painting tools (try it - it's wild!), and it is available in the fill dialog. So if I press option+delete to fill a selected area with the foreground color, I press option+shift+ delete to get the fill dialog (PC users I assume substitute "alt"). Among the many choices in this dialog is the amazing "behind" blend option.

yup yup what Steve said

Paintbrush set to Behind to fill in the blanks without messing the graphic. Saved my butt more than once. I did GIF the other day with this. Set to Index, transparent the white, back to RGB, paint in the white that I want to keep, then Index again. Tada.

Okay, I'm done. I mean it.
