Hey guys, I'm looking to learn how to make text take on the texture of a picture. How would I go about doing that?

Any help would be apprecaited

Is this similar to what you´re looking for?

In that case just type your text on a new layer above the texture you want, select the empty space outside the chars with the wand (and use selection -> add similar).

Shift to texture layer and erase. hide the text layer and there you go.
I added a little outline to the text on this one since the texture I got was kind of asylum colored

Or, you can type your text on a layer above the pic, select the text( CTRL+click ), and click the add mask button on the layer pallette. ( add the mask to the pic layer )Turn off the text layer.
If you click the link symbol between the pic ( or texture) and the mask, you can move the pic around behind the text to position it where you want it.

How about the "Selection in Shape of Text" tool? (I don't remember the proper name for it, but it's a pop-up if you hold down the Text tool. It lets you type, but instead of editable text it gives you a selection outline.) Then you could apply that selection as a layer mask. Saves you a step. Or am I missing the boat?
