Nifty way to create a sphere, I alway's seem to forget about trying {distort-- polar coordinate}, I find it amazing after nearly 10 years of using Photoshop I continue to find new ways of doing things. |

Playing with this I've found that you can get an even cooler sphere by running a radial blur on your original sphere layer (after this tutorial) a few times, then making a new lensflare layer without any other fx (placing it on a layer set to screen mode) and radially blurring that as well. It gives it a smooth pre-rendered look thats one step beyond the standard sphere. Also, if you want a bright hotspot you can duplicate the whole thing to a new layer and set it to color dodge mode for that extra intensity. |
