I couldn't find my original post (it has been nearly a year ago) but I asked everyones opinion on the best way to bend a gfx of a road (for a game I was making) and promised to post my results when I was done. Well we're finally done with it and I thought I would show it off! Being this is the first thing I've ever had the guts to show here (with all the outrageous talent) you could go easy on me hehe

I ended up 'bending the roads' thru no trick or process, I had to just draw them all slowly by hand.

I didn't see your original post (I have only been here for a couple of weeks) but that looks awesome Did you did all of it yourself? Or did a few people kinda split up the work?

Somewhere in the back of my brain I do recall that thread. Seems you have done exceptionally well during tht year of toiling. It's now you turn to show us how you did it. =) And if it's a functioning game...where can we try it? Again... *very* well done.

Yeah, I remember that thread. I know we tried several things with the displace filter but never came up with anything satisfying.

Glad it worked out for you, though, and the graphics look well done. I'd love to see the game as well.

Ayup. I remember that thread. In fact, I still have my attempt with the wave filter. http://www.raptors-lair.com/images/various/road.gif

It looks good, vpStein. Seems to me that slowly drawing it out was probably the best thing you could do, there.

Good to see you back vpStein.
I remember that ,too. It seems what you have done came out better than the attempts we made trying to make it easy !. Well done, and welcome back.

well thanks everyone means alot coming from this board. I never really left, I have to admit I lurk on this board a bit, some of the best stuff on the net for photoshop

I drew the playfield art from scratch (by myslef even) with the exception of a few premade gfx, which may stand out (or not) but those include the green car, David's and Michael's cars (the blue one is mine) and the cup. I rendered the 3d stuff in Lightwave.

The table design is mine and the programming and backdrop work is from my good friend Black, who also is a co-author of the main prg that we work in (called VP for short or Visual Pinball) and also a very big fan of F1.

I'll give you all some links if you'd like to see more

this is mine and a few others homepage for all of our pinball works, you can find F1 for download here, about 15 megs.

VPGD

this is vpForums, where everything happens and new tables are released almost daily.

vpForums

and this is Randy Davis' homepage, the main author of vp. note : if you plan on getting VP download it from vpForums.

VP Homepage

there is so much to vp... I should also mention Visual PinMame, it works with VP and allows you to play pinball with the original machines roms.

Visual PinMame

The last thing I'll mention (I have the nasty habit of becoming a bit verbose LOL) is that this pinball table (F1) is not a regular VP pin, but rather a one off, it doesn't require any other programs to make it run and play, the only thing is without the main VP program installed you won't be able to configure the screen mode, and it will play in a 640x480 window (yuck, I usually play it in 1600x1200 ). If on the other hand you install VP you can set your screen mode in the options and F1 (when played on its own) will read VPs registry keys.

phew Have fun if you decide to play!

I like pinball, but I'm thoroughly disillusioned with computer versions... so before I try any of the Visual Pinball stuff, tell me one thing:

Is there anything out there that can compare with Timeshock?

PT, what can I say? you'll have to try it and see if it's for you Visual Pinball is like EAs old (very old) Pinball Construction Set, a very advanced form of it though. There were those that loved it and those that hated it even then. Some people get into VP just to play games, others get into it because it great fun building a table.
