Preserved Topic: gimmie some feedback on my website (Page 1 of 1)

I am making a website for a band called killswitch, and in fact they are changing their name now, fun for me.
tell me what you think about the site, it isn't done yet, until we get more nfo from the band, but any feedback is definatly welcome.

on your initial 'killswitch' splash page, i don't like how the title doesn't blend in with the black background perfectly at the top edges.. well, actually all the way around the image... that shit needs to fade to black.

loads slow.. i'm getting sick of waiting for it to load while i write this.

okay, here's the flash interface..

oh, but first i should comment that the band looks really hardcore... like their mom shops for them at mr. rags and they probably live at home too. but they're hardcore, just like all the cool kids now.

anyways, back to the interface. the switch that toggles up and down is way too skinny, looks fake as hell. i think it scrolls too fast and fluid also.

i'm not sure whether or not i like the fact that the words are constantly moving.. i think i'm siding with liking them more than hating them though.

on the other hand, i don't like your mouseovers for the text. making it appear backwards suddenly just isn't the answer.. i'd play with that more.

though the metal interface has been done to death, and was never a particular favorite of mine, it fits with the bands name almost and you did a good job of implementing the theme.

hope that helps some, i just focused on what needs work.. assume everything else is decent for now, bahahaaa

i, personally don't like windows popups and
websites using two windows. especially when
one of them is not used.

(you can't navigate back from "contact" and "update"
i think that this is not ready yet...correction:
that is because i don't have flash on ns4.51) why
don't you just provide simple navigation for
visitors without flash?

on ns4.51:
a scrollbar showed up in the popup window frame down right.

on ie5:
a scrollbar showed up in the popup window too.

i first didn't realize that you are using flash.

the graphics look great. i like the metal-look

I dig...and yet, for some reason, I don't dig as much as I wish I dug. Dig?

The front page is nice, 'n all...but is that smoke Eyecandy smoke? *shudder*

The flash interface is slick, well-done on that..but the lower half of the screen has a scrollbar (which is a no-no), and doesn't fit, at all, with the feel of the rest of the interface. I say incorporate that part into the main interface.

sorry no eyecandy here, the smoke was actually made out of a faded picture and was dodged and burned into the smoke look you see, thanks for trying though. maybe I can teach you photoshop some time.

Sorry, i just hate commercial plugins for photoshop, and nobody knows this but me so when somebody makes a crack about using eyecandy, well that is a major insult to me. didn't mean to get angry, he didn't know, thanks for the comments about the site though

hmm... So, you could teach me about photoshop. Oooooookay. I'd love to learn. I'm still under the impression that there is no one person alive who knows absolutely everything to do with Photoshop--I doubt any engineers at Adobe even do. So when you say you could teach me things on Photoshop, I welcome the opportunity.

Teach me. Without a doubt, you could teach me something. You know how to be a dick, for instance. If I wanted to point this directly as an insult, originally, trust me, I would've. I wouldn't have shielded it under the guise of being helpful and critiquing when you wanted a review. So, if I've offended, sorry...but try, next time, approaching it as though everyone in the world has a different personality. deal with it.

I think it's pretty cool but there's something not quite right about it. I suppose the site is supposed to get this factory, warehouse, metallish, hardcore thingy going on but i don't see it. perhaps it's too fluid or maybe too blue or something. The words should definitely do something other than float around. The swith idea was good but i agree about beefing it up. the kinda site i'd wanna stay around a check out.

I think your target audience will be gleeful with that design, no doubt. The switch thingy is a little fluid, those things usually stick and at a certain point break free, sounds hard to duplicate but the fluidity bugs me. The noise is *slightly* less irritating than a midi.
Overall, well done I think, keep it up.

I don't like the first page. I think its the logo.. I do like the kill switch myself, I mean maybe the guy moving it is very fluid and used WD40 to loosen it up. lol

I agree with loosing the popup windows. I mean we all hate Tripod for that very reason, I close them before they load usually. But overall a nice site.

To the lower right side of the front door logo and the counter, you have active link debris showing up...

Get rid of the space between the image command and the </a> and it'll disappear.

I HATE when I have to scroll to the right, and when I went to the shows page it brought up a large calendar requiring a scroll to the right to see it all. I run my computer at 1280x1024 so I won't have to scroll to the right. The only site I have seen where I didn't mind the right scroll is the Planet of the Apes site.

Congratulations, you've managed to bring the three things I hate into a website, launched windows, system requirements, and sound. I can live with the launched windows and the requirements since I meet them. The sound ... oh the sound!!! Don't you hate it when your listening to whatever on your computer and all of a sudden you goto a website with some crap sound effects? Sound is fine in an intro, but grrr I hate it when its continious.

I dont get scroll bars on mine, guess its just the resolution and my large monitor. The graphics look fine, except what Mikey pointed out about the switch being so skinny. I hate that moving text and the mouseovers just dont cut the cheese. I would adjust those.

wow I apreciate all of the comments for the site, especially the last guy, geez, you must really hate the site, oh well, we all have our opinions, I am sure if you made something I don't like, I will let you know as well, hehe j/k

Well the fact of the matter is Im perfect and do perfect work ... or not. Actually its not that I dont like the site, those are just some annoying things about websites that were included in yours. I dunno blah...
